Haha actually I studied in Melbourne for four years and only really been to Sydney a few times for short holidays! I reckon you'd like it there though. It's fairly cosmopolitan and the food's great. Nightlife's quite active too :) Not sure about your major... Accountancy has never really been my thing haha.

I'm working at a bank, doing retail banking which is essentially sales. It's repetitive in its own way but definitely more dynamic than having a 9-5 desk job. You get to meet all sorts of people everyday, so I'd say if you love talking to people this is probably something you might want to look into.
I'm not entirely sure how the job market is right now, but I reckon 2-3 months before you graduate you should be spamming job apps everywhere. You won't really know if you'll enjoy the job until you're actually in it, so just give everything plausible a shot :) Hope this helps! -
Haha no I'm back in Singapore and working full-time! Thank you :)
-
I learnt french for 1.5 years while in university! It wasn't too difficult... I guess if you're really interested in learning new languages it feels more exciting than taxing :)
-
Work's been really tiring but I like it so far so that's good. Banking! So far it's just insane amounts of learning for paperwork and procedures......
-
Just started my 'future' job today... And yes it is!
-
Haha if you mean the present they gave when I was really young, I'd prefer to keep that private :) Sorry!
-
YES definitely :( missing you girls a lot!
-
Wow, hands down what my parents got me when I was very very young. Related to something unbelievably trivial but they knew it was something I really liked, so they got me something that REALLY made my year :)
-
Which other universities are you looking at? It'd probably be good to do some research before diving headfirst into something you're so unsure of! Maybe Google or even check out bank websites (e.g. career sections) to see the job scopes of various depts :)
-
Don't worry about it! Glad to help. I'm looking into banking, but we'll see after my first year of this job... I'll see which department's more suited for me :) Have you started uni yet? If you want a generic 'safe' degree maybe just go into business / commerce first, and then you decide your major later!

There are some aspects of finance that are less math though, but when it comes to subjects like econometrics you might struggle a little (like me). What's your ideal career path? If it's not exactly finance-related, I don't think you should go on with finance actually
-
Yeah marketing and management are very theory-based. I reckon if you want to get more hands-on experience you should go into media comm! They let you get more specialized in whatever areas you like, like events management or PR. It also depends on where you do this though
-
To be honest, I always thought so. That's one of the reasons I was doing a Finance degree right up till last semester. But I spoke to a lot of people at great lengths about this topic, and at the end of the day I guess grades matter more to me? Since my Finance grades were only mediocre, it was a better choice to switch to Marketing/Management.
At the end of the day, I have no regrets :) Are you deciding on your major? -
english, mandarin, french (better written than spoken)
