Yes although I never saw one unless ghosts are not invisible and see-through like in the movies and TV shows.

It could be a virus, or a Windows start up program or file might be broken if you are using Windows. It also can be a corrupt registry key. You can try running Start up repair from your Windows install CD if you are using Windows 7 or Vista.

I think you got a Virus, Spyware, or malware. You can try using Ultimate Boot CD for Windows : http://www.ubcd4win.com/ to try to clean up your computer from starting your PC from the CD and using it's virus and spyware scanning tools.
I recommend using SuperAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, Hitman Pro, and Microsoft Security Essentials to try to fix your computer.
