Why not? I think clothing should just be clothing. Clothes are meant to cover, to clothe, to protect, and not leave the body naked and exposed to external elements and lay bare. Though it sounds ridiculous and redundant but it just is. And it means, getting attention, making a fashion statement, impressing friends, seducing people et al is just an additional and probably an unnecessary purpose.

Both. Aren't we all both private and public persons depending on the context, perception and preference? We are both people in numbers and people as individuals. We are like zebras. In a nutshell, we are uniquely born but we live among/ with the herd.
