In 1941, Mary was facing a lot of troubles. Occupationally, either she was not being able to cook (impaired) or she run out of the proper ingredients to cook the meal she wanted to offer to her husband (occupation deprivation).
If it was happening today, she would be inviting her husband to a romantic dinner to celebrate a promotion in her job.
