Great question! I'll pass this one along to the man himself. I'd love to know the answer to this, too.

Due to the massive increase in autograph requests, Mr. Irons’ new policy is to ask for a donation of $25 (£15) per signature.
This will go to the Prison Phoenix Trust (UK Charity reg. 327907), a charity based in Oxford, England of which Mr. Irons is a patron.
For more information on the Prison Phoenix Trust, click HERE.
This charity brings yoga and meditation into prisons, to help the inmates turn their cell into an ashram.
Mr. Irons will be delighted to give his signature in return for support of this charity. Please send donation (made payable to the Prison Phoenix Trust) and request:

Jeremy is, I believe, a lapsed Church of England member. His wife, and I think his sons, are Catholic. Jeremy is not one for attending regular church services. He's not much of a follower, I believe he's said, but it's important to have faith in something. Hope this helps.

Sorry, not the man himself. However, if you happen to meet Jeremy in person - say after a performance of a play he's been in, or just out and about in London - he is very likely to give you a moment of his time. He's a very generous person. Write him a letter c/o the address found in the "Contact Jeremy" section of www.jeremyirons.net and you will eventually, very likely, receive a response.

From the webmaster of jeremyirons.net: I believe Jeremy, for the most part, enjoyed the experience of filming M Butterfly, being in Bejing and Toronto and getting to work with Dead Ringers director David Cronenberg again. Of the film Jeremy has said, "I could see great possibilities, exploring the area of turning the one we love into our vision of them." Maclean’s magazine (Irons Mines A New Vein, by Brian D. Johnson, Maclean's April 11, 1994) had this to say about the film: “M. Butterfly, was a critical and commercial flop, and Irons now claims that he had doubts about the script from the beginning.” I think the problems were multifarious," he says. The actor recalls expressing his reservations to Cronenberg. "But we felt we wouldn't get the film made unless we went with it then. I thought, "David, you can make it work, I trust you." I made a mistake. I should have said, 'Let's wait." "When Maclean's relayed the actor's comments to Cronenberg …, the director said: "I have no idea what he's talking about. Other than discussing little knots in certain scenes, we never said there was anything wrong with the script. And on this of all movies, I was under no pressure." On the set, however, Irons did express doubts about his career, Cronenberg recalled. "I think he felt he was doomed to constant repetition, that he'd done everything he could do. But Jeremy's a wonderful actor, and he hasn't even come close to exploring his limits." “
