I read Tezuka's MW thinking it was like Kimba and Astro Boy, but it really wasn't, it's a messed up story with messed up characters and while it's great. It is quite litterally the most chilling thing I have read ever.
As for uplifting...I dunno but I am horribly fond of reading the Belgariad and Mallorean by David & Leigh Eddings and it always cheers me up XD -
OMG SO VAIN
Seriously though the character I personally most relate to is Lucy. I'm not really as moody as she is but I was very "in the middle" in terms of interests too, didn't care for girls silly games but wasnt intrested in roughing it up with the boys too. I kind of share her social awkwardness and tendency to rely on only the closest people too...
In terms of pairing, I was originally Mike x Lucy but since the whole Sandy thing I'm mostly neutral. But I can understand why the emotional detachment of Mike hurts her so. Though if she could just realize that many people outside of Mike care about her, she might be okay. -
Hmm
Understanding Comics/Making Comics by Scott McCloud
Every Tintin book ever
Most of the Asterix books
Maus
Bone
Pheonix by Osamu Tezuka
Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck by Don Rosa
I'ld also throw in random awesome manga and comics such as Sailor Moon, Chi's Sweet Home and such for kicks. I grew up on a healthy diet of "Sonic the Comic" and "Disney Weekly" as a lass too. -
Gosh thats such a hard one, I didn't document a lot of 2010 so it's hard to remember it all.
I went to Disneyland Paris this year. Center Parcs, Summer of Sonic and did tons of stuff. But I think the memory that will stick with me the most is spending Christmas with my boyfriend.
Nothing crazy happened but there was a certain charm to waking up, opening presents and then having a lazy lie-in before facing the family parties. Plus the amusing fact we shopped for each other in an amusing manner at the mall. daww
Runner up is Summer of Sonic. Never have I seen so many Sonic shirts in one place at one time. It was nuts but totally awesome, cant wait for next years con. -
But it's so HAAARD to pick one! *whine*
I tend to like the upbeat tracks that get me all psyched up. I REALLY liked "Oh Santa" by Mariah Carey this year though I also like older classics like "Wish it Could be Christmas Everyday" by Wizzard and "Mistletoe and Wine"
Though I think my fave Christmas song (and by extension, album) is "It feels like Christmas" from Muppet Christmas Carol
"A part of childhood we'll always remember
It is the summer of the soul in December
It's when you do your best for love, it feels like christmas" -
I've never tried a dating site but apparently there are success stories. So I can't really blast them.
I think the success of such things REALLY depends on the person you are and they are. If you are mature enough to know whats important in a relationship and what isn't then you stand a chance. But a fair number of people join such sites with lotfy expectations, or theres a (negitive) reason they resorted to a dating site.
In any case I believe relationships are best developed naturally -
Never did get to use Mistletoe, maybe once I have my own place and I can hang it someplace to be cute with hubby or something...
It just never came up. Mistletoe is hard to come by back home in the UK. Though not seen much of it around here in MI neather. -
Being able to visit my beloved Jimmy twice this year! Though I guess thats more a given than anything. Its just been nice to not spend a whole year between visits for a change. Plus we've been so blessed with luck this trip considering all the weather hassle.
I became a LOT more active this year socially and online. Did lots of art which is my proudest achivement for 2010, I want to beat the amount I did this year in 2011 somehow while still working on my art skills.
The thing I disliked about this year was the Democrats being beat back by Republicans and the economic squeezing on both sides of the shore and the implications that could have into the new year. That 20% VAT is going to take some getting used to once I'm home... -
I did this to Sonic Underground as a kid. I liked the idea of Sonic having siblings and a royal heritage so some sort. But in canon with the SatAM universe rather than a similar offshoot universe.
So being royal would make solve the potental equality of role situation in terms of dating Sally. The Freedom Fighters would have stronger allies in Sonia and Manic, which in turn gives Sonic family support that isnt dead or robotized (or on the run). Plus it means Tails exists, and all Sonic universes need Sonic's little brother and best friend! : )
Also better songwriters for the Sonic Underground song segments ;P -
Theres a few I adore for various reasons. First off, I'm an absolute sucker for Pokemon, it doesn't change much between iterations but I can't resist the cute critters and collect em all nature of the series.
Next off, Hamtaro: Ham Ham Heartbreak, it's quite a simple "My First RPG" kinda deal but the animations are captivating and the whole hamchat business is quite funny. Ham Ham Games is pretty fun too.
In terms of this generation of handhelds, I *adore* Loco Roco and Patapon as concepts and Dragon Quest IX's mass accessibility. Though I've generally been a fan of the DS gameswise. -
She is!
Jenny was created when I was still a bright young thing around 2002. Around that time I was also thinking of broading my internet horizons beyond Sonic the Hedgehog related forums and such ;P so I went with something a bit more original name-wize and just assumed my characters name.
http://jennytablina.deviantart.com/gallery/829227#/d10scl - this is the earliest form of Jenny when she had long hair and bangs. Cute design but kind of impractical
most current design is this one - http://jennytablina.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d2vnhay (with Sonic fancharacter Kirichao). Over the years I defined Jenny's features better, gave her a much more manageable hairstyle and tried to better define her feline species. Still gets mistaken for a fox though sometimes : ( -
Goodness theres so many games and toons that have had revivals that I'm really not sure.
The one that really stands out in my mind, is Mike Batt's " The Dreamstone". A 90's cartoon with a delightful premise of a world made of two halves, the land of dreams and the land of Nightmares, and the Dreamstone that guards people from the nightmares. With it's delightful character designs and that quintessential British charm our toons had up to that point. A remake with proper continuous storyline would be the best thing ever!
If I'm going really out there with this idea, the new series would be made by a new generation of British animators with maybe some support from existing studios in the UK and Studio Ghibi on hand somehow (in pre production or something...) -
thats such a hard one for me to answer. I could never place myself as one character entirely as I like all the little universes the films, cartoons and such depicted in the various Disney worlds
If I was going to be honest though, the character I am closest to is little Piglet from Winnie the Pooh. I'm naturally small to begin with and seem naturally keen towards people taller than me and such. I also tend to sell myself a little short like Piglet tends to do. Though I try my best to be loyal to others and help where I can. I just need to be bolder and braver sometimes! -
I think possibly adjust the way people react to change or significant differences in others. People can be so quick to deem things that are not considered "status quo" as rejects or bad things.
That said there are many people that can see beyond differences, so its not impossible. But it's figuring out how to fight against the intolerances and make people truly understand. I'm currently thinking about this in regards to my web comic project, as I want to raise awareness of learning disabilities while trying (somehow) to explain that a thing like that...is an integral part of a persons being. But thats another story I believe! -

Oh gosh, my personal gaming tastes are skewed in the cute platformer or more unique concepts. So Black Ops, Halo and GT5 don't even get a look in
I was really keen on Dragon Quest this year, and Pokemon HG & SS is a stunning remake, Sonic finally made something of a critical comeback with Sonic 4 and Colours. But I might just hail Epic Mickey as my Game of the Year. The amount of depth in the game, the sheer attention to Disney history and Park details. The platforming might be a little sketchy, but the players experience is stunning all the same. -
Oh boy, as I recall the first album I owned was Spice Girls first album "Spice". Yeah I got swept with the craze and all. It was fun while it lasted (hate their later stuff though)
I listened to lots of music prior to that though, I was fond as a kid of getting dad's old 12'' albums out and listening to Michael Jackson's Off the Wall and Donna Summer's Once Upon a Time. So I had good taste back then too, though the late 90's have left me with a weird craving for Europop... -
Hmm...I think it would have to be Gonzo. I could relate to him the most because he's wonderfully weird and different, but instead of being ashamed of it he's actually incredibly proud of himself.
For comedy purposes, always the Swedish Chef. BORK BORK BORK -
Seeing as its a generic question provided by Formspring I suppose I should try answering it. Though I always think people are silly to think theres some magic trick to happiness or its something you can have all the time.
The best way to have a life you can at least be happy personally in is to get out and do things. Take charge of life! So many people think happiness will come to them on a platter because they are owed it somehow or it can come in a bottle or some drug. They might be quick fixes but I find it hard to believe such things make people genuinely happy
Others try to find their happy ending way too fast. Thinking they just need to find their princess or prince charming and live happily ever after. Such thoughts are nice and romantic, I've been guilty of getting swept up too (as I imagine most girls do) but its certainly not the end by a long way!
In the end I think people have to work to gain happiness and be willing to hold onto their hopes and dreams too. There will be hard times but its about riding those out really. Doing so can make a person stronger as a result

Rebecca Gunn’s Bio
I like cartoons and video games and interwebs. Currently hoping to make one of those interests into a career somehow
