Sometimes you really have to look at what you're doing with your life and simply ask yourself: Are you happy? Are you content with driving your car to and from work every day and getting very little satisfaction from your job? On average we sleep about 8 hours a day and what a shame it is to waste the remaining day hours doing something you don't absolutely love.

My job in CA was very rewarding at first. I met lots of great people and gained some real world corporate experience. While my main responsibilities were in the realm of software and hardware testing, I've also developed a knack for programming in the last few years. While I highly value quality assurance and it's role in the development process, my brain became easily bored when it no longer provided a challenge. When I began to feel that I had a strong understanding of the testing process, my career focus and interests were shifting towards the development side of things- an area that was more of a challenge for me. Unfortunately, the more your day job and your interests don't align, the more unhappy you become.

So I asked myself the question I mentioned before: Am I happy? To which I responded: No. Before I decided to quit my job in CA, I did the best I could to try and bridge my interests and my day job. I took initiative by attempting to build software tools and systems that would demonstrate my ability. Unfortunately, the core responsibilities of my job also did not align with my interests and it became nearly impossible to set aside time to pursue these during work hours. Instead of putting a strain on my personal relationships and working into the wee hours of the night, I decided it wasn't worth it.

In the tech and startup world, there have been many new and exciting opportunities for people with similar skill sets as mine. Instead of sitting on the sidelines and watching people succeed (with honestly not-as-cool ideas), it's time we start shaking things up. What has really made me take the leap this year is my realization that I have quite the network of amazingly talented friends that also want to work on super awesome stuff.

      Wish me luck!

Well my parents live in washington heights (upper west side) and I'll probably crash with them for a week or so. I previously lived in Bay Ridge Brooklyn and my fiancée lived in Williamsburg so I also spent a lot of time there. I'll probably be looking in LES, Williamsburg, Greenpoint, Bushwich (but not too far in). So that general area.

INTJ. I used to be an ENTJ but working in an isolated office all day unfortunately turned me into somewhat of an introvert. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to undo the damage.

I would probably hook my parents up with a house, start a college scholarship at my alma mater, and invest a good chunk of it in something wise. I'm sure there's other stuff too ...
