Got up at 6.30 for a run. Minus 7 outside, frost on the cars, cold air in my lungs, nobody around. Beautiful way to start the day

Save money? In my dreams. Photographers spend money on new equipment.

Ahh, thanks Simone. Starting out from scratch is not easy to begin with. Couples getting married will most definitely want to see a portfolio of images and without that, it's tricky persuading anyone to hire you. I would advise sending an email out to everyone in your address offering to shoot weddings for free. As an incentive you could offer the disc of images for free. The way things are with the economy you will probably find that you will be inundated with emails! Perhaps in the meantime you could check out some photographers local to you and offer to assist them for free, which will be great experience for you when you get to shooting weddings on your own. Gear: well in an ideal world you will have two cameras. As a wedding photographer it is pretty much essential. Imagine only having one camera and it breaks half way through the ceremony? Unthinkable! So two bodies are a must. Lenses: I love primes i.e. fixed. Much better quality than zoom lenses. I have 35mm 1.4, 50mm 1.4, 85mm, as well as 70-200mm 2.8. Then it's a good idea to have a pair of flash guns for when it is really dark. It's an expensive game getting into photography though hugely rewarding. Good luck.
