I really enjoy creating custom designs. There's something about starting a creative process start to finish with a client that I find really appealing. I love looking over their inspiration materials seeing their vision in my head and being able to put it on paper. That's not to say I'll never create a stationery line that's pre-designed. Just for now the "couture", custom route seems the more natural route for me to take.

I love this question thanks Gwyneth!

My first car was a turquoise'94 Volkswagen Passat. I can't say I LOVED the car but I did love that I was 17 and had a car to get places. For a while when my Passat was in the shop I had a loner Volkswagen Rabbit that my highschool friends lovingly referred to as the "Moldswagen". The thing smelled like it at one point in time was burried underground. It was gross. I luckily got my Passat back shortly after and we still called even that car the Moldswagen though it instead smelled like air freshner.

My dream car I think would depend on my mood. I've always wanted a Prius, but I think in the back of my mind my real dream would be a Mustang. I just love the way they look (though I'm not a sportcar fan by any stretch).

Who knows though maybe one day I'll give up having a car altogether. I live in Brooklyn so there really isn't much of a need for one though it is a nice luxury. Time will tell, for now my purple Toyota Matrix is safe. :-)

I am very jealous of the person who invented the snuggie. I received one for Christmas from my loving and amazing husband, and since I got one any time I'm on the couch I'm wearing it. I love it!

I would always get annoyed I would have to take my arms out from under the blanket to either change the channel or type on my laptop or even read a book (just like the infomercial!). So in the back of my head I guess I always knew there was a need for it, I just never would have thought to add sleeves to a blanket. I guess why that inventor is making the big bucks and I instead make invitations :-)

Probably my favorite to date inadvertently wound up being my favorite because of how excited the client was over my designs. She had wanted a purple on gold design but was kind of unsure as to what style she wanted, but did know she wanted something modern.

I had set her up with our three design plan to give her three invitation concepts to choose from, of which we could modify or combine into her perfect design. She loved two of the three so much that instead of choosing just one, she had us produce both of them (she split her order in half between the two designs). It was such a fun project to work on knowing I had designed not just one, but two amazing designs both her and her family and friends loved.

As far as projects I'd dream of working on one day, I'd love to work with a client that is open to unique materials for their invitations. I have yet to work with any sort of silk boxes, fabrics, velum, etc mostly due to client demand (most people contact me for my pocketfold designs). Working with non-traditional materials makes for very unique invitations so if you're out there and are looking for that, give me a call!

My husband and I are partial to Jamaica. We love it there. So usually any chance we get time for a vacation that's where we head.

Otherwise my absolute, favorite place I've visited so far in my lifetime has been Turkey. It's a beautiful country and the food is amazing! I can't wait to visit again. My other two favorite runners up are Greece and Italy.

I don't often have time to read an entire novel but any time I go on vacation I make sure that's all I do while I sit on the beach. So while on my anniversary vacation not too long ago I read "Handle With Care" by Jodi Picoult. I love her novels and consider them my own personal "brain candy".

Wow, what an awesome first question to receive! Here would be my top 3 tips when first starting out in the stationery business.

First, would be (and I was guilty of this myself) is it's actually spelled "stationery" and not "stationary". I had even myself designed my entire website with the incorrect spelling, and am thankful a well respected stationer I was following on Twitter pointed it out to me. As she told me if you want to be considered a professional in the business you have to spell what you create correctly. Initially I took offense to her pointing that out to me but now in hindsight I'm very thankful she did and consider it the best piece of advice given to me while building my business.

Second, is to do your research and create a relationship with a really great printer (granted you are not purchasing your own equipment and doing it yourself). I tried a few different professional printers before I found one who's work makes my designs look amazing and who provides me with great customer service. Remember when building a relationship with a printer that you will be bringing them repeat business, so really developing a good professional relationship is key.

Third is not to send out or produce any designs you create that you are not 100% in love with. It's not fair to your clients and it's not fair to you. Kind of like how chef's in a kitchen will not put out a dish that isn't 100% up to their standards I feel the same goes with stationery design (or any kind of design for that matter). Adhering to this will allow you to put out designs that max your creativity and build a fantastic portfolio.

What's the best part about being my own boss? I love that I know that I am accountable for my own actions. That as long as I put the time and effort into it, it will pay out for me. Another thing that's special to me about now being a business owner is I'm 3rd generation in my family to be one. I come from a family of entrepreneurs and it feels great to me to do the same in a business that reflects my passions and personality.
