Feels pretty much the same as everyone else. I get up in the morning, take a shower, brush my teeth, eat a bagel, maybe some frosted flakes...
The biggest problem with a plus handicap is maintaining it. I have to practice at least 30 minutes a week. It's a grind I tell ya. :-) -
There's no secret to creating backspin that only pros know, so that's the good news. What you need to spin the ball is:
1. A softer, high spinning golf ball. Pinnacles don't spin like Pro Vs, so get some "players" golf balls.
2. Clean, solid contact with a descending blow. You need to hit it solid and cleanly, with no grass or dirt coming between the club and the ball at impact. Clean contact lets the ball climb up the face of the club, creating more spin.
3. Clubhead speed. Assuming you have a high-spin ball and hit it solid - the faster you swing the more energy you transfer to the ball. The pros spin it a lot because they swing faster than the rest of us.
How to do it:
Get a nice shiny new wedge like (ahem) a Cleveland CG15 with sharp grooves, get you some high spin golf balls like Pro V1 or Srixon Z-Star, and make a few setup adjustments. You'll want a nice tight clean lie with the ball slightly back of center in your stance. This encourages a descending blow that will create spin. Keep in mind, green conditions also factor in. The ideal "spin" conditions are soft and fast greens. Good luck! -
