Well, in my opinion, its neither small or large. It can be a bit ghetto in some neighborhoods. The schools are alright. There's fields around. There's buses and trains to get you places, although I've never ridden the train. There's also beaches nearby. There isn't much department stores. The mall sucks. There's no hang out kinds of stops that I know of. It just incorporates aspects of the californian city that it is.
