Well, I know that we vote for the party, but we vote for the person leading the party as much as anything else. The leader of the party has final say in most issues, and therefore they posses the most power, I believe that the people should have a say who is in power. Look at the Howard government, he was running for office, but was going to step down if the Liberal party was elected – he lost a lot of votes because people know about this. Sure, we are a representative democracy, and that is mainly intact, but what if some people don't particularly like Gillard? Then that would be some sort of misrepresentation.
I just find it a bit annoying, especially since this was more of an internal Coup than anything else (even if Rudd did step down) -

I dislike him, a lot. His music is manufactured and his whole career is built on a bunch of tweens who wouldn't know good music if it introduced itself, did the Can-Can and the punched them in the nose :/ But yeah, each to their own.
