we're as simple as possible...usually one speed light on camera. sometimes it is direct flash, sometimes it's bounced just depends on the room and the look we're going for for the particular image. typically we will use bounce flash for the main events of the reception (speeches, first dance, cake cutting, etc) since it mimics a more natural light, then for things like dancing and random grabs we typically will use direct flash for a more immediate feel.

yes, i am using the LR4 version. there definitely is a small difference between the LR3 and LR4 versions but i think it was a change for the better personally. i know VSCO is working on an update for the LR4 pack that should be addressing the issue you're having though...should be out shortly :)

99% of them are full frame, usually the only cropping i'll ever do is to straighten a horizon line.

not sure, i don't really look at wedding photography.

i love run on sentences :) for now, i am doing all our processing in house myself with VSCO film. i honestly haven't done my own wedding raw processing in 5 years but once VSCo film came out i knew i'd be making a major change. before VSCO film it would take me 8+ hours to raw process a wedding, now i am doing that in 2 hrs-ish so that i can handle...for now :)

we follow up with them a week or two after our initial response, usually at that point we will hear the ol' "we're on a budget and can't afford you" song, so usually at that point we will delete their indoor refer them on to our associate photographer or suggest some friends that might be more int heir budget. if we never hear anything back, we keep the info on file...we've had some people email back a year later and want to book after we thought the lead was dead. love those surprises :)

not really a fan of most of them...pretty pumped that visual supply co will be releasing #VSCOcam very shortly though! we've been on the beta team for it and all my photos i've been posting to instagram over the past month or so have been processed with #VSCOcam then just posted into instagram.

we use adobe indesign to do all of our album designs for both our personal and professional work. we partnered up with H20 creative and released a set of templates for indesign which are all we use now :) you can see more details about them here - http://h2o-creative.net/indesign-album-templates/designer-sets/the-image-is-found/

i am sure it's a fantastic camera as with all nikons, but the D700 is already so good that we're not in a big hurry to swamp our systems with 36MP files. also, for us to upgrade would mean buying four bodies, which at this point i can think of lots of better uses for that money :)

portra 400+, portra 800, fuji 400h.

I'm in love with it. the team at BIG DEAL BRANDING did a suuuuper job working with me. we still have a few things to flesh out and are waiting on the new site platform from VSCO to be finished so we can relaunch all of our sites on VSCO.

well, assuming you have all pro canon gear you won't lose too much on the switch. if you're looking for better focus, the 1 series should cure your 5 series problems. when we switched back to nikon it was because of focus, flash, and build quality issues with bodies/lenses/flashes...unfortunately the last two issues don't get fixed no matter how great the body you upgrade to on canon is :(
if you go to nikon, we're perfectly happy with D700s...but sure wouldn't mind any of the D3 series or the new D4 that's coming... -
do better work than the established folk and blow people's minds with a fresh take on wedding photography...then people will want to network with you an have you on their list. if you can't figure out something new to bring to the table then I'm afraid to say, the table is already full.

yes, we would and have. usually we just charge for the session and an additional travel day which is $300-$500 additional depending on the city we're in and the costs incurred to be there an additional day.
the closest we'll be to dc this year is a wedding in toronto...would love to get back to dc though, it's one of our favorite cities! -
whenever possible out goal is to build relationships with the couple, not the mom or whoever happens to be financing the wedding. so we would urge to meet with just the couple but if at the end of the day the mom persisted then she could come to the meeting and we'd be nice :)

I don't but I should.
