We do not currently use freelance writers for print articles. We're always looking for new story ideas, however, so if there's something you'd like to see us cover, please feel free to send an email to katharine at iloveswmag dot com!

We sure do! We publish weddings from across the United States and around the world on our daily blog, www.iloveswmag.com. Weddings for the print edition must have taken place in the southeastern United States. You can send all submissions to emily at iloveswmag dot com. Looking forward to seeing your work!

It depends on the day and the phase of magazine production we're in, but I would say between 50 and 200... with Lara on the high end of that!

Make sure your photography is absolutely top notch. For us, that means crisp, clean images with VERY minimal processing and natural light when at all possible. After that, we look for amazing details we've never seen before, shot in an editorial way that will allow our readers to use the images as inspiration for their own weddings. We always look for a great love story. And if you're aiming to get into the print edition, the wedding must have taken place in the southeastern US (we publish weddings from all over the world on the blog). Good luck!

Thanks so much for the kind words! We definitely don't discriminate based on the amount of time a photographer has been in the business, and, in fact, we love working with new photographers! For our real wedding features, we look for gorgeous photography, beautiful and clever details we haven't seen anywhere else (or, at least, not done as beautifully!), and a great love story. Looking forward to seeing your work, and good luck!

Tough question. She decided to go with candy, because candy can make her feel better when AKP makes her sad. :)

We're always looking for interns! If you live in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area, love weddings, and have excellent graphic design and/or writing skills, please send your resume to katharine at iloveswmag dot com.

Here are a few venues we love in Florida:

      --anything on Amelia Island
--the Epping Forest Yacht Club in Jacksonville
      --Casa Monica in St. Augustine
      --The Breakers in Palm Beach
      --the Biltmore Estate in Miami
      --the WaterColor Inn and Seaside
      --Carillon
      --Rosemary and Alys Beach

Good luck! Choosing a venue is a huge decision, but once you do, so many others fall into place.

Since we have such a small staff, we're not often hiring, but we do post any open positions to the blog, so make sure you follow along at www.iloveswmag.com!

      Our top ten tips:

      1) Cut down your guest list.
      2) Decide what's most important to you and focus on that.
      3) Learn by example. We think Dana from the Broke-Ass Bride, the $10,000 wedding blog, and the A Two Thousand Dollar wedding blog all have fabulous ideas for budget brides.
      4) Consider bartering for services. This tends to work better with smaller, independent businesses. For example, offer to do clerical work for a seamstress in exchange for your dress alterations.
      5) Look to flea markets and Goodwill for props and decor items.
      6) Cut down your guest list.
      7) Purchase your own alcohol from Trader Joe's or Costco.
      8) Buy a used dress on a site like Once Wed or Preowned Wedding Dresses, or borrow one from a friend (really!).
      9) Cut down your guest list.
      10) Edit, edit, edit. If it's not truly important to you, your future spouse, or your families, cut it.

      We are looking for:
      1) GORGEOUS photography
      2) Clever, beautiful ideas we've never seen in a wedding before... or at least not done as well/in the same way
      3) A great love story. Seriously, our readers love them!

The SW staff and the Bliss staff are basically the same. Lara does most of the design and planning, with some assistance from Emily. The whole crew comes out in force the week before a wedding, and since most of our Bliss weddings tend to be larger, we often recruit additional help, as well.

Yes, we do! But it's very important to us that our content, whether an inspiration shoot or a real wedding, is accessible to our readers. This is why you won't see crazy over-the-top shoots on our blog. They're beautiful, but not for us.

Lara Casey is not related to Shaun White but she wishes she was. She would, however, settle for being his BFF.

"Tacking on the extra bling, baby!" --Katharine Waterman. But seriously, she is very much looking forward to the ceremony. You can read more about her planning adventures on the SW blog by searching for the "Reluctant Bride" series!

We put together all of our own collages. We do have "standard operating procedures", if you will, to keep the look consistent across the blog (for example, the white lines between images are always the same width), but every board for every wedding is individually constructed with loving care by either Emily or one of our fabulous interns.
