i cannot reveal that type of information

too hard to answer.. everyone has their own path and the types of people they allow into their lives.. stick to the obvious stuff.. trustworthy people who truly believe in you are good.. go getters are good... people with GOOD people skills are good... stay away from losers lol

good controllers? i rock an axiom pro 61 and its effin incredible w/ Protools, especially if you sequence in Protools like I do... Maschine is dope too.. essentially, u want the controller that feels most comfortable to you, and allows you to accomplish what you need to accomplish in the LEAST amount of steps possible.. ease of use is everything

thank u! honestly my approach is different everytime.. it really depends on what i'm trying to accomplish.. at the end of the day it's about trusting your ears and understanding the fact that, this stuff is going to be played on different systems (a car, headphones, laptop, club, etc).. so how do you create a mix that sounds great on ALL of those platforms? i do believe having an ear is an important part of that.. i mean, people get paid thousands of dollars because this is what they specialize in.... MIXING... so practice, read books, and trust your ears.

i never really felt that way.. most important thing to do is stay confident, hungry, thankful, and super passionate with the music and also the business part too.. never stop and know things will happen

my kick drums always peak louder than everything else on the master.. always.. i kinda use that method as a guideline to where I am on the "loudness spectrum".. again, it's different every time though... no 2 tracks are alike

it depends, but most times someone else mixes the VOCALS

3 tracks once.. but sounded like 100

it's Skyzoo's biggest sounding album, to date.. it's lush.. rich.. layered, but not super confusing and complex... Skyzoo will tell you, it feels like a dream, almost (hence, the album title "A Dream Deferred").. sonically, i'd like to think it's incredible (yes, because i exec. produced it, mixed it in it's entirety, and sprinkled moments of full orchestra pieces with cellos, violins, horn sections, etc).. the "sky" was the limit (no pun intended) with this record and I think we did something special.. Black Milk murdered his joint, as did everyone else on the album.. hopefully people will enjoy it as much as we enjoyed creating it..

i never left samples... i'd have spurts here and there (pause).. and there was a time when i did not touch 1 sample for almost 3 years.. but i dip in and out (pause again).. a lot of my stuff incorporates both, but MOST of my beats are sample free at this point..

i personally rock at 16/44.1 .. it takes up way less memory, and (some may disagree with me) the sonic differences between 16/44.1 and 24/48 are not drastic enough to be a big deal anyway, unless you are dealing with a project that DEMANDS the highest sonic quality audio (IE surround sound? movie effects? etc).. nobody is going to say "hey man, fuck that guy! he uses 16/44.1 he sucks!".. unless you are dealing with a psycho engineer, which in that case, you're screwed..

as a producer, you are free to negotiate anything your heart desires.. with a "free mixtape" placement (or so they say), use your best judgement.. if it's with an artist that you're confident in, inspired by, and convinced that the track(s) you do for them will help get your name out as a producer, do whatever it takes to get on that "mixtape".. clearing samples shouldn't be your priority.. let the label/artist side handle that.. and make sure those terms are clear in your producer or production agreements.. if you are still unclear about how sample clearance works, find a good lawyer to help you when those situations arise..

joey bada$$ is dope... i don't mind the dollar $igns
-
some wavs bundle eq's and 3rd party stuff.. and the ASR10 and S20 sample engines are amazing.. i run all my drums through them
-
super important.. its only going to make u a better producer
-
its always different... sometimes start with drums, sometimes melodies...
-
it actually always made me happy.. i don't really remember a time making a beat and not liking it to some extent
