I hope you're not getting the idea that I'm dumping on the comic or its' creators. I think it's cool that it exists, and i'm glad that it's popular. It's a worthy addition to Adventure Time's overall brand!
And no offense is meant to Ryan North or the comic. Ryan's job is to make stories that can plausibly exist in the universe and as the sales show, he's successful at that!
But this fact remains- he may take the cartoon's plots into account when writing the comic, but the creative staff of the cartoon do not treat the comic's events as being real or "canon". Any original characters, events, and backstories created for the comic will probably never be referenced in the show. (For example, in the show the Lich's body is currently permanently destroyed and he remains in snail form. The comic events couldn't have happened in any logical way)
the comic is not canon to the show. take that as you will. enjoy the comic, enjoy the show, enjoy them together, believe what you want to believe.
THE END thats as clear as i can be. i will answer no more canon questions(unless they are funny) -
ok look the comic has stories that could plausibly fit into the plot of the show. but as far as I know they have no bearing on the show's continuity. treat it like its own thing

get off the internet muscle man!

i don't get TV in my house so i miss out on a lot of shows. but i promise i'll try to watch it
-
P-canon: anything that is in the show or something Pen personally said to be true
L-canon: anything that happens in licensed material like comics
T-canon: anything Finn and Jake do when on appearing on a T-shirt
(P.S. THIS IS A JOKE DON'T ADD IT TO THE AT WIKI) -
Yeah man it's still weird and exciting. When I first saw it on Venture Bros i almost did a front flip
-
It is non-canon as far as I know.

"Storyboard Supervisor". I storyvise the superboards

I animated a lot of flipbooks using post-it notes. That's where I learned to animate. I also rigged up a rudimentary lightbox using a see-through clipboard and an old lamp, and animated on paper.
This was before Flash was widely used... I didn't get Flash until my graduating year of high school. I made some really primitive animation in it. Looking at the stuff middle schoolers do in flash nowadays is really impressive, I wish I had it back then.
However, I did have access to this (sorta crummy) Mac program called "Amazing Animation"! Here's a compilation video of an animated series I had high hopes for

I was online friends with Shmorky way back
i consider him some kind of crazy genius http://www.somethingawful.com/d/flash-tub/clipping-news-report.php -
as of now Adventure Time has not established such a multiverse, so it can be assumed that the comic is non-canon and any events originating in the comic never happened in the canon universe of the Adventure Time cartoon.
I get what you're saying, but there is no in-universe explanation for the comic's existence. The comic only exists in our reality as a separate product from the cartoon. -
yeah man. he's a really talented cartoonist and musician. we met online but we ended up working in the same circles in New York animation
I'm the "Ian J Quartey" in the special thanks on Bonus Stage credits -
no. until the show says differently it has no connection to the actual show canon
-
No. As far as I've been told, the comic is completely separate, like an alternate universe. So if you see new character origins, powers or worldbuilding in the comics they do not apply to the TV show at all.
i'm sure that's probably frustrating but it's better to let the comic have full control of its own universe outside of the TV show. If it helps just treat them like "What-Ifs"
