Well, I think you have to step back a bit to realize things are not quite as bad as they seem.
Let's look at results. Yes, the team in the past three years has been involved in two collapses that have damaged fan psyches and an injury plagued season that was over soon after it started. However if we look at the team from a distance, we have two World Championships, seven playoff appearances, and four pennants in 48 years. That's not bad, and far from being an LA Clippers fan.
We were an inning away from a World Series just three short years ago. In a city like New York, the resources the team has available to it, your chances of being back there again soon are much better than they are if you were the fan of many other teams in baseball.
Hang in there, I promise you things will get better. -
I don't think Johnson will be traded. I think the Yankees want to use Nick at DH and occasionally at first base.
I don't think this precludes the Yankees from going after more pitching. They're going to look at Sheets, Marquis, Bedard, Doug Davis, Piniero, and possibly even check in with the Reds for Arroyo or Harang. They don't need a #2 starter and there are plenty of back end rotation guys still out there.
