Actually, he currently wants to try to juggle both. He's still unsure which one he REALLY wants to do more (cook & be famous, or design something famous & be famous). Either way he's a huge dreamer and I support him all of the way (:

Cooking is stressful, but Son deals with it really well. He always tells me stories from work about how crazy it gets and how stressed out his superiors/coworkers are, but he never gets stressed cause he's always prepared for any craziness that may occur while in the kitchen. (Generally, if you're a girl and you break down and cry, the head chef will be nice to you and help you. If you're a boy, no such luck!)

He wants eventually go on Top Chef, but he's a long way to go til he'll get to go on. Although, I THINK Son told me that for some cooking competition shows, they'll interview you and call your references/previous employers to see how well you do under stress & purposely choose people who don't do well under stress to cast for the show. That's what makes Hell's Kitchen so interesting, right?

The Red Seal exam is for Canadians, and we live in the United States, so he's never taken/finished it.

Are you currently interested in becoming a cook? You could either do what Son did and start from the bottom up, or go to culinary schools. I think some culinary schools will "extern" you to a restaurant once you have enough skill/knowledge. Think of it as an unpaid internships for cooks (although I've heard that people in kitchens treat externs like crap because they're externs).

Oh yeah! Also, in some restaurants, if you are on people's bad sides, they WILL sabotage your food. When Son worked in New York, other cooks would purposely mess up other people's food by adding too much salt or whatever. Thing is, head chef doesn't care, so even if you worked REALLY hard to make something, you're just going to have to do it again ): Fortunately, at Son's current job, everyone's really friendly so none of that has happened. I heard from Son's head chef that he has seen things like that go on in other kitchens, so it's not uncommon.

Can you imagine that? Someone who's supposed to be on YOUR team and YOUR side purposely sabotaging your hard work ):~ Also, as a cook, you might get crap from the waiters since they might suck.

But yeah! If you're really interested, dedicated, passionate, and willing to work hard, I think you'll make a great chef :D! Son's told me that there have been people who give up their money making career to become chefs because it's "always been a dream"

I hope I helped and didn't ramble on too much~ Please let me know if there's anything else you're curious about :3

Son's turning 22 on Sunday :D~ He's been in the food industry for five years. He worked in New York for a short period of time, but came back to the DC Metro area because he missed home. One day, he hopes to travel to tons of places for work :D~ He wants to work & live in New York eventually, and he might want to work overseas because he can work as a chef in a hotel since some larger hotels cater to big business clientele and speaking English there is a plus.

Also, when you work at a restaurant, you typically have to work there for at least a year because it looks really bad on your part if you don't stay long and switch around quickly. So Son is staying until June at his current restaurant then he's gonna quit, take two months off, and then look for another place to work at (:

He also went back to college this semester for mechanical engineering so he won't be traveling too far for a while. (I know, cooking & engineering are like two totally different career fields ~_~;;)

    5. Mai

Basically, yeah. He cooks food for a job.

but technically, no. He's a "line cook" or "Chef de Partie" I don't want to completely bore you with the technicalities of the "kitchen hierarchy" since you probably didn't want a super literal answer, but if you did, here's a link that might help explain the hiearchy:
      http://realitycooking.contentquake.com/2007/08/04/the-kitchen-hierarchy-do-you-know-your-chefs/
He's well qualified to become a sou chef but he doesn't want to yet. I don't think you get to be called "chef" in the kitchen unless you're at least a sou chef, so he's just your extraordinary line cook (:

He also wants to one day win the "James Beard Foundation Award" under the "Rising Star Chef of the Year" nomination which is for rising chefs under 30 years old who are expected to make a huge impact on the food industry in the future. But it's really hard to get nominated since you have to be super well known (publicity costs money Dx) and get famous executive chefs to nominate you.

Yeah, I don't know why I always have to research things and make super intricate answers, but I hope I didn't bore you! If you have any questions about becoming a chef, I'm sure Son would be happy to answer them since he started out as a potato peeler and worked his way up n_n

For my most recent post I used my Lumix Lx3 (:~ I don't have the proper lens to take night pictures with my Nikon yet, so for most at night/dark pictures I bring my Lumix since it takes much better pictures when there's a lack of light. I can start putting in what camera I use per post if that would make things more helpful for you n_n~

    7. Mai

Lots of things, but I won't go into details for fear of boring you. What's up with you?

    8. Mai

Thank you so much :D! I don't normally get feedback on my blog & not many people comment so I'm never sure if it's actually interesting or not so this makes me oober happy. Do you have a blog :3?

I would have no idea because my parents have never made it. I'm not even sure if they even know how to make it. Here are two recipes I found:

      http://ravenouscouple.blogspot.com/2009/05/com-tam-suon-bi-cha.html
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKSDq0ItOZg

You can also try going to Barnes & Nobles or Borders and looking in their cooking section for Vietnamese cookbooks. I saw a few really good ones but I don't remember if they have that recipe in there or not. You can also try googling for more recipes. It can be under, "com tam thit nuong" or "com tam suon" or maybe "com tam thit suon" or something. The main part is "com tam" which means broken rice. "thit" means meat. "nuong" is grilled. "suon" is bone. So yeah. Sometimes if you look for it, it might be "com tam bi thit nuong cha" or something. Those are just the other ingredients/sides that go with the rice so it's still the same grilled pork, just extra sides. I hope that wasn't too in depth/unnecessary information or confusing for you. Let me know if those recipes above work for you because I've never made it before. Also let me know if you find a good recipe because I would love to learn how to cook it myself (:

      Play

I don't think there's an actual program because I think most people code by hand (for all I know). So I think they just type out the codes in either the basic text program that comes with the computer or they use Dreamweaver. Again, you are going to need to know some HTML/CSS knowledge to create these themes.

I did a little googling, and found this link that might also help you and be a better guide to create blogskins:
      http://www.blogskins.com/forum/3/8387/

I hope that helps & good luck. Would love to read your blog sometime if you start updating it again (:

I was actually doing a little research on the LX5, and this reviewer on amazon compared it to the S95 and the G11/G12:

I haven't done any other research in Canon cameras since I haven't had the need to buy a new camera in a long time, but I hope that link helps :D. Good luck on your camera buying & let me know which one you end up choosing (:

I didn't write it completely by myself. I found a theme off of another website which had it for download at the time (the site is offline now) and then changed a few things to make it look the way I wanted (:~ imo, wordpress themes are really hard to write, so it'll be a LONG time until I can write a theme by myself ):

    13. Mai

Thank you for the compliment (: ~

      I think it's sad when people stop blogging cause then I can't peer into their lives anymore );

For my theme, I just found a theme that was basically the layout I wanted and then altered a few things so that it would look cuter. I have no idea how to write my own wordpress themes, but I do know enough CSS/HTML to alter it. Unfortunately, the place where I downloaded my theme isn't on the web anymore so I can't show you where I got mine.

If you're on wordpress, I suggest you use their search engine to try to find themes that would be easily altered:
      http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/tag-filter/
You can choose how many columns you would like and just search (:

If you're on blogger/movable type/xanga here are a few that I quickly found:
      http://www.blogskins.com/info/351208
      http://www.blogskins.com/info/255328/
      http://www.blogskins.com/info/321003/
      http://www.blogskins.com/info/296982/

      I think there are a few tutorials out there to change blogger themes to wordpress themes but I haven't successfully tried it myself x;

Finding/altering/making themes do take a lot of time and a lot of patience so I wish you luck!

I also think that Fauna is one of the most easily changable wordpress themes, so maybe you want to start out with something easy~

I'm sorry! I'm actually from the US, so all the money I mentioned was in USD. Are you looking for a Canon point and shoot or Canon DSLR? I'm not sure if adorama ships internationally since it doesn't really specify on their website but you can see if your local camera shops carry the Lumix because I've seen the Lumix in some of my local camera shops still.

Also for the Canon, I would recommend you also going in stores to test the cameras out if they let you. Like take some shots in the store with it, hold it to see if its easy for you to grip, etc.

Also be sure to read the reviews on bhvideophoto.com or cnet.com to help you make your decision. The people who write them get more in-depth than me and know a heck lot more about cameras than me.

I just noticed that they discontinued the LX3 because the Lumix Lx5 was recently released:

      Hello! :D It is 10.1mp

I bought it from bhphotovideo.com and here is the link to the item so you can view all the specs/reviews:
      http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/573592-REG/Panasonic_DMC_LX3K_Lumix_DMC_LX3_Digital_Camera.html

You can buy it here for $370
      http://www.adorama.com/als.mvc/Cartview?Sku=IPCDMCLX3BK

Which, IMO is REALLY cheap because I bought it ONE YEAR ago for $500 ;w;~ /saddddddddd.

I initially bought it since my bloggers I followed used it and the quality was really good. xiaxue, dannychoo, yonasu

But most of them have moved onto a better camera, so I'm not sure if the photos on their blog are from their lumix or not. On my blog, sometimes I shoot with my lumix and other times I shoot with my nikon d3000.

Either way, I think it's an amazing camera since the pictures are really clear and records videos in HD. It also looks really cool and I've gotten a lot of comments on it (: <3

Feel free to ask anymore questions if you want more information on the camera. I'm no camera expert, but will try to the best of my abilities to answer them x; !

Hello! I am hosted on dreamhost.com as my domain server, but I use wordpress.org as my blogging program. You can do the same thing on wordpress.com or blogspot.com, it's just all about the theme that you use. I'm not sure if you are the same person as the other person who asked about my blog, but I answered a lot of things in there in terms of resources and such.

      Free Wordpress themes: http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/
      Free Blogspot themes: http://www.blogskins.com/

I recommend this theme for wordpress beginners: http://noscope.com/fauna

      It takes A LOT of getting used to and playing around to alter/create a theme for wordpress and since there aren't very many themes out there for wordpress, it's more than likely you'll have to know a big of HTML/CSS knowledge to make your wordpress look like the way you want it to. I have barely any knowledge in this field so I can't help you too much with HTML since I only learned from playing around with the code x;

Sorry if that was a bit confusing~ Please feel free to ask anymore questions and I'll try to answer it to the best of my knowledge Dx

Oh yeah! Thank you so much for your compliment :D! It means so much to me <3

    17. Mai

I use wordpress as my blogging system. If you use wordpress.com, you have wordpress in the name, but if you go to wordpress.org you download the wordpress program and upload it to your domain to use.

I actually bought my domain from dreamhost.com, on certain holidays, they'll have a sale where you can buy one year of hosting plus two years of having a domain name for $10. Unfortunately after that, it's like $120 for a year of hosting x; I bought mine on president's day of 2009, so it definitely doesn't have to be a big holiday for them to have a sale.

Also with dreamhost.com they have a section in the control panel where they can install wordpress on your domain for you since it's confusing for some people to install it themselves.

Or you can just create a blog at blogger.com or wordpress.com and just buy the domain name and then use premade themes to make it cute so that you won't have to pay as much for domain and won't have to go through the trouble of installing it. There aren't that many free premade themes for wordpress, but if you want a cute premade theme for blogspot I know that http://www.blogskins.com/ has a lot of cute themes for them.

If anything else, you can try to find someone to host you on their domain just to try it out. Although I highly recommend looking up FTP tutorials since you'll need that to upload things onto a domain server.

I'm not a huge expert on it, but please feel free to ask again if you still have any questions :D

I gained lots of callouses from violin back in high school but it's gone away since then D:~ So it wouldn't be anything new if it came back. & I will post a video of me playing as soon as I learn how to sync my bad singing & bad playing together :D

    19. Mai

Glad you brought that up. I've been meaning to practice but all of the school, work, Vietnam, now back to school, back to work, and sleep have taken up all of my time D:~ I plan to get back on that when I find to practice.

    20. Mai

No idea, I wish I knew too ):~ Sometimes I have to stand in there all day and just write down the lyrics to google it & still nothing. If your H&M is really friendly, when the song you want is playing, you can ask the manager to go in the back and see what the song is for you because it normally says on their music player. Aside from that & without the Shazam App on an iPhone, no idea. A lot of the retail stores generally play the same music if you stand in there for a long time. I think Forever 21 sometimes has the same songs as H&M too?

Sometimes they're also like remixes of songs specifically made for the store, so its also harder to find. A lot of it is also hipster music, so for that genre and remixes, try hypem.com or soundcloud.com

      Sorry D:
