I'll tell you what... I love the environment, but I'm also lazy... So I'm not going to stop using plastic or unplug everything when I'm not using it. But I do recycle, and I do turn off the lights when I leave a room, and I do walk places when I can and use public transportation... Honestly, if everyone did that, then there would be essentially no problem, or at the very least, the really dedicated people would do more and that would cut it. But as it is, it's a disaster. People still throw away recyclables. People still leave their lights on. People still drive down the street when they could easily walk. It's really that easy.
