I can check with the engineers. What fields would you like to download from there (there is a lot of stuff in the address book.)

It is fairly simple. Go here:

      http://www.photoshelter.com/mem/site/usr-stat

Look for the "Export: CSV File" link in the upper right corner. Click it, and it will give you a comma separated text file that you can import into a database or spreadsheet.

A lot of photographers refuse to upload images to Facebook for this reason. It's really a personal choice - Facebook is a great marketing tool, so striking a good balance between promotion and protection is a good idea. And, for the record, it's not just a Facebook issue -- many online services have similar language in their terms of use. So always be sure to read the fine print, and be sure you're not giving up your rights.

A mobile app? Good question. Currently, PhotoShelter doesn't provide any type of off-the-shelf app creation software. However, if you can find app software that will read images via RSS, you may be able to use the RSS feed capabilities within PhotoShelter to communicate with it.

I'm not a tax expert, but I believe that sales tax doesn't have to be applied to a service (and the act of taking pictures is a service.) The only thing that would have to be taxed would be hard goods that result from the shoot (for example, a wedding album.)

If the customer lives in the same state as the photographer, then technically sales tax should be applied to the price of the album or prints. If the customer lives in a different state than the photographer, then sales tax wouldn't be applied.

Again, I am not a tax expert, so I would check with someone like the Tax Ninja (http://taxninja.com) who specializes in this kind of thing, and who works specifically with photographers and artists.

I can imagine each and every client has their own set of rules and guidelines, so it's best to follow them when you're working for someone else. In most cases, the client won't want you to touch the image at all - instead, they'll usually make use of their own retouching experts.

However, when it comes to your own portfolio, and your own website - you're the boss, and you can do whatever you think will make the image look best. The video interview with Kristina was all about making your website/portfolio images look their best - so her advice is based around that objective.

Hi Patti - you're welcome. The webinar "The Right Way to Negotiate with Clients" was recorded and will be up on the blog today (Monday.) All of the information you want should be there!

You can add that type of information to a few different places if you want (and some people do). One place is in the "special instructions" iptc field. Another is In the "Gallery Description" field. But, it sounds like you may want to add this line of text to all images on your site, so you could also place it more prominently by adding it using the Manual Customization mode. That way you can place it just about anywhere.

Congrats! I just scanned through the list of print vendors and I don't see any currently in that area of the world. If you find a printer that you like, adding them to the system is pretty easy. Otherwise, maybe you can try Spectrum, and see if they'll ship to the UAE?
