not one moment, no, actually. I'd known I wanted a tattoo, and one that, as I always say sort of mawkishly but also accurately, printed my commitment to literature on my body. molly's 'yes' was among my vague ideas for a while, and when I told a friend about the idea, she drew the "yes" image that would eventually be the tattoo. I kept that drawing as my desktop image for almost a year--I figured looking at it every day would give me a realistic idea of whether I really wanted to have it on my body forever. then when my proposal for my ulysses thesis was approved, I decided this meant it was time to actually get the tattoo. but it was a fairly measured decision, really.

a sudden, amazing inspiration to write for a couple hours which resulted in the completion of two smaller projects and the substantive progression of a third larger one. then I'd get some emails about some stuff, and some other emails about some other stuff, and then someone would show up, and say some stuff, and I'd say some stuff, and then they'd say some stuff, then some other stuff would happen. and then we'd all have some tea and some scotch on the couch as the sun came up.

well, the thing is, I really dislike beer, so I'm neither qualified nor inspired to answer that part. My bourbon choice is black maple hill.

it had better not. the earliest I look likely to go anywhere international is june/july (though, thrillingly, one never knows), and I can't imagine the ash won't be dealt with in one way or another by then. it prevented a friend's globe-trotting escapades this week, and I quite seriously wept for her.

This is an awesomely interesting question. If you can't focus yet or at the moment on existing icons, focus instead on what you want the outcome to be. What kind of people do you want to attract? What sort of reactions do you want to elicit in people? Which of your goals are most important? What do your fantasies of the future look like and involve? From there, I'd work backward and think about what pre-existing icons made that kind of impression, attracted those types of people, and lived that kind of life. For me, I found that the iconic people who got the kind of reactions and lived the kinds of lives I fantasize about getting and living are in many cases male, and that the kinds of behaviors that excite me to perform are linked to in many cases to male figures.

to answer this and the other five pieces of it that you asked: Sean, go to bed.

well, I wouldn't say no to the right combination of people, but in terms of preference or at least in terms of what I'm actively & ideally seeking, I'm a little over group encounters/activities at the moment, for a variety of reasons.

the moment is, by definition, ephemeral, though.

duchamp, I suppose. I'm not nearly as up on dada as I should be, but I do like making incessant "this is not a [something]" jokes. tristan tzara, but really only tom stoppard's version of him.

I read too many books as a child (& continuously since then) and consequently am more interested in short-term, turbulent, good stories than long-term workable happiness. completely sexually messed up; would like someone (multiple someones preferred, but not at the same time) fitting various stringent requirements to help. tell me I'm pretty.

well, the upcoming housewarming party, to be sure, though that's not for a few weeks, in all likelihood. there will likely be opportunities before that in the next week or at least two weeks--I'll keep you posted.
