i'm using a modified version of the plainscape theme, and the font i use in the post body is arial with 1px letter spacing. the post title font is lekton, and the font used in the top menu bar is georgia with 2px letter spacing.

my parents spoke chinese to me growing up but i learned most of it in school. all of my japanese/korean learning came from college courses.

i could really write a whole post about my experiences with language learning, but that would require a considerable bit of research in order for me to do it justice. but on a surface level...for me, i learned best in a fast-paced classroom environment where the information came at me like a firehose, haha. i don't think you can learn a language casually or comfortably unless you're actually immersed in the cultural/linguistic environment and are not permitted to use any other language. and even then, your knowledge of the language is not guaranteed to be as thorough as that of someone who had formal classroom training with an instructor who is trained in second-language acquisition or linguistics.

but that said, i'm also speaking from a privileged position where i'm privy to all of these educational classroom resources. i don't think it's impossible to learn a language on your own if you're particularly self-motivated and in-tune with your own learning styles.

sorry i took such a long time to answer this question, especially since the album has already been released! haha. the album's alright. it feels like a continuation of their first japanese album -- not much musical evolution. this (and their first jpn album) is something i'll just kinda keep on repeat in the background while i'm working or something.

haha. to be honest i don't know if i have any real coherent thoughts on it...or rather, i don't know if i can really articulate my thoughts about it very well, haha. maybe if i were a fanfic writer i'd be better at that sort of thing, but for now i'll just leave it at the fact that i find it interesting, heh

humanoids is embarrassing. here i stand is pretty good without the dubstep, which i think is the general fandom consensus on the song. overall, a pretty underwhelming release, and it's disappointing that i only had to gloss over the new songs to know that.

(i actually had a dream a few days ago that the repackage had THREE songs, and the third song was so amazing that it made up for the mediocrity of the rest of the repackage. the extra song had something to do with sailing on the sea or something. true story.)

HAVE I WATCHED ANY MUSICALS LIVE. out of the newer musicals, i LOVE 'next to normal' and 'in the heights.' i've been wanting to watch 'book of mormon'....probably going to see it when the touring cast comes to boston next spring :3

you mean auditions from shows like kpop star and i am a singer? i don't really keep up with those shows as much as i want to, but lee hayi's audition was particularly memorable.

believe it or not, i have never run into this problem in my twenty years of living. it's just really difficult for me to get sick of talking to any one person, to be perfectly honest. :| sorry i can't give you better advice.
