Taim is better, but it's also more than twice as expensive. For the money, I would go with Mamoun's. If you're trying to impress people with the quality of Falafel in NYC, you go to Taim.
I actually went to Taim as a result of you asking this question. My review will be up sometime before the end of the year! -
Don't listen to them. I did come in one time late at night and I had some that was a bit dry, but more often than not, it's the best.

Must Eat - Katz's Deli - get the pastrami sandwich. Also home of a scene from "When Harry Met Sally." Always busy. I would go around 2.
