Gypsy? Gypsygirl? What's with all that "Gypsy" stuff? You're not descended from gypsies.
No, I'm not. After my divorce in 2000 all my debts were paid and I had no real attachments, so I fancied myself as a wanderer, even though I didn't actually go anywhere. In 2003 I worked at a job where the other two people in the same room would only communicate by AIM - I chose "gypsypress" with an eye toward website and publishing one day. Soon after, I found there was already a Gypsy Press (which went out of business) that had published comics, including "Pandora" - the title that forced Vince Sneed and I to change our comic to Forty Winks (but that's another story).
When I created a website I took the name Gypsygirl Press, gypsygirl coming from a line in the Sondheim/Stein musical Gypsy ("cause if ya gotta gimmick, gypsygirl ya got it made"). Only recently did I find that there was another Gypsygirl Press out there, publishing books about gypsies.
The webcomic was titled Gypsy by a whole separate set of circumstances, but it fits.
I still feel like a wanderer, but I still don't go anywhere.
