      I think the most useful trait a writer can have is the drive for self improvement, and it sounds like you have that already. Also useful is honest self assessment and the ability to take criticism and distill the bits that are accurate and constructive. Once you know your strengths, develop stories that play to them. Once you know your weaknesses, come up with ways to address them--and never stop improving at your craft.
