Zero hours of TV per day. I don't subscribe to satellite or cable. I get all of my information from the Internet. There are plenty of ways to watch things online. I usually watch 1-2 movies per month at home and occasionally a documentary on Netflix. I really don't understand how the average American can watch 4 hours of TV per day. I can't imagine where I would find 4 hours to sit around.

My first job was mowing my family's 6 acre spread in rural Oklahoma with a giant tractor. I was 12 years old. When I turned 13, my dad hired my brother and me to build rotary telephones in some workshop below his business. I felt like an elf down there. Of course, the hot chocolate machine was a bonus.

It's easy to get "sucked in" to the web of social media. There are so many interactions, comments, posts, and other things to keep up with. It never ends, really. So, 2-3 hours a day could certainly be disruptive. Look and see how her time spent on the computer is affecting your marriage and you personally. If she's still able to connect with you, the kids (if you have kids), and take care of everything in her life, than 2-3 hours may not be a huge deal. For most people, though, 2-3 hours is a big chunk of time. If you're asking this question, then you're worried and your wife will hopefully care about what you're worried about. Bring it up in a non-blaming way and talk about what you feel like you're missing out on by having her plugged in to her computer. If you hit major resistance, then it's time for some support. Find a good marriage counselor trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and they'll help you get unstuck.
