We don't. We're not fans of its stink, of the way it makes the greenhouse and all our equipment smell, of the way it can gunk up our equipment. Our farming mentors used, and we have followed suit, a seawater-based foliar fertilizer. We've been very happy with it -- it works well -- is very stable, so we don't have to use it quickly We like it.

Fish emulsion is pretty incredible stuff, and we love that it's made with fishing industry by-products that would otherwise just be dumped back into the sea. Perhaps we'll experiment with it someday!

Not our cup of tea -- we love meat! We're lucky to have enough land to keep our own chickens (for meat and eggs) and goat (for milk and yogurt). We also trade a CSA share for meat from neighbors who raise their livestock on pasture.

The chicken and dumplings!! We made these (http://smittenkitchen.com/2007/12/chicken-and-dumplings/) recently, with 5 or 6 pounds of our own chicken and chicken stock. The stew itself was AMAZING -- hearty and rich without being too much. Next time we might make it with half the chicken; the amount called for wasn't overwhelming at all, but we could probably conserve by using half as much and it would still be delicious. The dumplings, though, were doughy and undercooked. Not sure what happened -- did we mix them too hard? Not cook them long enough? The next night we dropped some free-form spƤtzle into the leftovers and much preferred that. We'd love to hear about anyone's expertise with perfect dumplings!
