Technically switch, but I make a better sub than dom, I think. Depending on my mood. I honestly don't have a lot of practice in either, as my living situation precludes many things I'd like to do. It's also why I'm poly more in theory than in practice. Sharing living space with one's Baptist mother puts a damper on a whole lot of things, and having to hide one's entire personality and not be able to live life the way one wants really sucks. Thanks for letting me get that out. ^_^

I'd love to know who this is so I could ask if that's enough for you. It's not so much about making a mark on the world as it is a profound calling to write, to get my thoughts out on paper or the electronic equivalent thereof. And what are words without readers. The universe conceives an idea; the author gives them life; the reader nurtures them. The more readers there are, the better they thrive. It's that philosophy that drives me.

I'd really love to be able to interweave fantasy and reality seamlessly the way @neilhimself does. I'd also like to interweave large-scale and small-scale plots in the manner of Eco, Pynchon, and Gibson. I wish I had the ability to encapsulate profundity in single, concise sentences like Douglas Adams. I try to use the flowing poetic language and observations on human nature that I first encountered in the best of Harlan Ellison's works. I strive to develop the keen perception of the present that can be used to extrapolate the very near future, as Cory @Doctorow so often does in his work. And, above all, I try to tap into the human psyche through myth, symbol, and emotion as exemplified by J. Michael Straczynski.
These are individuals I consider masters of the craft, and I know I still have a long way to go until I measure up. But I'm working on it. -

That reminds me of this one time I was hanging out with my dear friend Londo Mollari, Great Maker rest his soul. There was some cosmic crisis going on—I can't remember which. (We got a fragload of cosmic crises sent our way back in those days.) But anyway, then he said he felt like he was being nibbled to death by cats! Hahaha, y'know those Earth creatures with beaks and feathers that go quack. That image made me laugh so hard I wet myself.
