I see the tithe envelopes use the NIV Bible. There's a discrepancy in Isaiah 14:12, insinuating Jesus is the one who has fallen. Revelation 22:16 says He is the morning star, and NIV has no mention of Lucifer. A new believer can be easily confused.
The notes in the Andrews Study Bible are helpful in understanding how the translators of the NIV may have arrived at the translation of Isaiah 14:12. However, we are not defending the use of one translation over another. All versions, including the KJV, have strengths and weaknesses regarding the translation of various passages. Bible scholars often encourage comparing various translations to arrive at a balanced understanding of truth, and this encouragement is routinely explained to new believers.
