Hey, I'd like to ask where to get a decent black floppy hat (not costing an entire arm and leg?) Also, what do you feel about the bell bottom trend? is it even a trend at all?

Hi! I got my floppy black hat from Romwe, but they appear to no longer have any. You could do one of these from F21:

Bell bottoms are a trend right now. Fashion works off of a pendulum swing. Flared jeans were popular, then the fashion-forward started wearing very tight pants in opposition of the flare trend. Then, the tight-pant trend trickled down and now everyone wears very tight pants, so the fashion-forward now wear bell bottoms in opposition of the mainstream tight fit, if that makes sense.

I love bell-bottoms, and I love tight pants. I find the best thing to do when getting dressed is to just wear what you like at the moment and not worry too much about what is in fashion, since no matter what you put on, you'll always fall somewhere along that pendulum swing.

Who are your favorite blogs and how to you determine it? Do you ever feel competitive with fashion blogging? I always felt I was comparible to Pale Division but never gained as many followers so I stopped.

I consider blogging to be a community rather than a competition; I love discovering new bloggers -- I find it extremely inspirational!

I understand the frustration of feeling as though nobody is paying attention. I have found that I gain more followers the more often I post, and when I use Chictopia and Lookbook. In turn, I take inspiration from Lookbook and Chictopia and fellow bloggers, and it is all quite reciprocal. You should give it another go!

My favorite blogs tend to feature predominantly personal style posts. I tend not to like "cutesy" blogs (bows, cupcakes, ballet flats, etc. -- not my jive). I find that it is hard for me to look at a blog if the pictures aren't at least moderately well-taken (I just need them to be well-lit and sharp -- artistic or skilled photography is nice, but not essential to me).

I read a TON of blogs, so although this is a big list, these are all my absolute must-reads:

My bf hates my style. In HS I was a "normy" girl bt evolved 2yrs later into a fan of weird and ecclectic style. He doesnt understand combat boots, maxi skirts, and my joy of thrift shopping etc..& I look more stylish than ever! any words of wisdom?

If I were you, I would punch him in the face and find a new boyfriend. For me, there are two issues here:

The first is that I think it's extremely rude to tell someone that you don't like the way that they dress. If he had been polite, you never would have even known that he thought that way in the first place. Honesty is one thing, but being negative regarding inconsequential preferences is completely unnecessary; his feedback about my clothing wouldn't change anything or impact my life in any way -- it would just make me feel awkward.

The second is that everyone's style is a reflection of their own taste. If my boyfriend said he didn't like my style, what he is really saying is that he doesn't trust my taste, and that sucks. I couldn't be in a relationship with someone who doesn't respect my decision-making abilities.

That's just me, though. I'm sure he is probably otherwise a perfectly nice person, in which case every time he says something about the way you dress, you might consider dishing it right back out to him.
