When I was going into the hospital the first time, for the surgery to remove Chuck (my tumor), my old boss said two things to me, both relating to pain medication. 1) Don't be a hero. If something hurts, ask for pain meds. 2) If a doctor/nurse offers you pain meds, take 'em! Odds are, they know something you don't. (i.e. You may not be hurting right now, but you will soon.)
