Agh. Now I'm torn between my art and my desire to make money... Writing? Design? Programming? All of those.
-
Back to when I was thirteen. I'd let myself know that I was about to get autoimmune thyroid disease, but it would take the doctors twenty years to get the diagnosis right. Perhaps it would save some time.
-
The hardest question you can ask a writer: "where do you get your ideas from?" The answer: I don't know. Everywhere. Learn programming and you can do all kinds of stuff.
-
No, I don't allow that. I put a lot of work into my name generators. If you put a copy of my name generator on your blog, people would start visiting your site instead of mine, which wouldn't be very fair, would it?

That wasn't me, it was a lady called Sue. Search the web for Langley Forest Fairies.
-
Yeah, it's on my list. It's all part of the master plan. :)

I added boy's names, and had to swap a few of the first names around to make allowances.

What are you going to do with it when you get it? They bite, you know.

They move like butterflies and sting like bees.

Firstly, your work has to be good enough to get published. If your work is good, it will speak for itself.
In addition, there are a lot of publications out there that aren't open to unsolicited submissions, because reading unsolicited submissions is hard work and you have to wade through lots of rubbish.
People are only likely to ask you to submit things if they know you or have seen some of your work and like it. I started going to writer's conventions, making friends with other writers, using social networking sites like twitter and facebook to make friends with the people I met at conventions, and generally getting my name out there.
At the same time I have a website where I've published quite a few of my short stories and poems, so people can see what my writing is like and decide whether they think I'm good enough.
Has the experience changed my life? No, but it's made me more confident. Maybe if I get an agent and sell my first book, then it will change my life. -
I like fairytales. Legend, Labyrinth, The Company of Wolves, Star Wars, Pan's Labyrinth, et cetera, et cetera. :)
