Thanks!
It's a good thing you tried doing design yourself because the most important thing is that you (1) respect design and the blood/sweat that goes into it. Without that you'll never work with anyone great cause they'll be too busy working with people that respect them and their talent.
(2) Understand the different between user experience, user interface, visual design and front-end development.
(3) Next I'd start making a list of a few designers you really admire and use these as a benchmark to compare other designers to.
(4) Next start reaching out to designers you find in different corners of the web. Start telling people in your network your looking for a designer. As long as you have #2 it'll make sure you eventually find someone great.
(5) Be patient -
If you have an old Flowtown account you can still login/access your account and we are still supporting the email marketing functionally for the foreseeable future.

The old version of Flowtown that turned email addresses into social networking information has been shut down.
If you're still looking for that kind of service check out: Qwerly.com or Fliptop.com.
The new version of Flowtown has yet to be announced, however you will get notified if you've opted in at http://signup.flowtown.com -

It was actually a combination of a high churn, drift from vision and the social networks getting unhappy about people selling their data.
Once the last of these was true, it made it easier to take a hard look at the first 2 and make the decision to get away from selling social data.
Timely was something we built over the holidays to play with some new tech. We wanted the app for ourselves and it wound up be awesome, so we opened it up to everyone.
As for the new version of Flowtown, no announcements yet... -
