Build Guid? I'd be thrilled. Do they have spots that need to be filled?

It's great to have a wide skill set, but finding an entry-level position that needs a little bit of all of those disciplines could be difficult. You might consider having multiple versions of your résumé that can dial-up one particular area of interest as you apply to different potential employers. Also, smaller design and communication shops are always looking for talented people who can bring a lot to the table as far as skills in multiple areas.

We face competition from local, regional and national agencies of varying sizes on most projects. It's rare to be handed a project by a client without jumping through some hoops to prove that we are best suited to handle it. Of course, those rare occurrences when we are given those jobs usually turn out fantastic.

One thing to remember when assembling a portfolio: your 'weakest piece' is sometimes as memorable as your best. If you're on the fence about including a particular project in your book, then don't. 9-12 solid pieces is always better than 15, especially if a few of them are weaker than the strongest.

Hi Jessica. I don't consider my design approach or methodology the same thing as an 'artistic philosophy.' For me—as a visual communicator—I am almost always tasked with solving the problems of others. My professional goal has always been to do great work for great clients.
