Yes, though my thoughts of moving permanently have dwindled the longer I stay in New York. I can't really imagine not being in Brooklyn (at least some part of it) full-time. If I had to live part time somewhere else I'd probably choose between Portland, OR, San Francisco, CA and Austin, TX. I'd love to settle down in the South one day, but I'm not quite there yet. I still need big city amenities at this age ;)

Easy- Spanish. I feel like an idiot for not taking the time to learn such an important language earlier on. I'm glad that I focused on German growing up (I still love it), but Spanish would be a valuable language to know and be able to use in both business and my day to day life in NYC.

The Rachel Maddow Show- It's my daily dose of everything I need to know.

Hockey- any kind. Field, Ice, Street...I'll take them all. I still miss playing field hockey and wish there was a league in Brooklyn I could join.

Since the beginning- I founded it ;)

Peruvian textiles. In a big way.

Bananas and Nutella. My favorite flavors in the world combined. Win win.

ABC Carpet and Home. Though that $1000 would probably equal one thing. It's so pricey there. But man, it's also SO pretty.

NO. I hate talking on the phone. I would email everything in my life if it was possible. I know that will make my mother so ashamed of me, but I really get nervous and anxious on the phone and find myself talking like a total weirdo.

It's a tie between Monday and Saturday. I love the way that Monday feels like the start of something fresh- and like you have all the time in the world to get things done. And Saturday is always my favorite day to rest, restore and do absolutely nothing.

Thanks- it's actually Revlon "Ravish Me Red" from the drugstore ;)
My new favorite lipstick, hands down, is this one: http://iliabeauty.com/about/
In "Arabian Nights". It looks good on EVERYONE. -
Is that a real question? Of course not ;)

Not yet- I haven't had time to decorate with the book tour and our other summer projects so I pretty much still live in a white box ;)

As someone already exhausted at the beginning of a book tour, I'd like to see a way to gift someone a nap. That's not possible, but the idea of giving someone time or help that makes their life easier is great. So for your friend traveling- if there's any way you can help ease their travel that would be great. Upgrading their flight might not be an option, but you could call their hotel and have a bottle of wine/champagne waiting for them (or some sort of chocolate/treat). You can also consider making a little custom travel guide for them based on things you know they like and book it in a small book so they can take it with them.
You could also look up a good but inexpensive short walking tour and book that for them, too. But if "small" means budget-friendly I'd go with something sweet like having a note and bottle of wine waiting for them in their hotel room ;)
For the exhausted co-worker I'd suggest something that involves them relaxing or taking time off. I'm a big fan of experience gifts so I'd suggest booking them a massage or some sort of relaxing experience and maybe give them a ride to and from the place so they don't have to deal with that part.
If that's too expensive, I'd do something sweet for them like take care of their morning coffee for a week (buy it or just get it) so you save them some time out of their normal work schedule. Doing small thoughtful things that make someone's life easier are always better than store-bought gifts. -
12-15 times. I check at least once an hour during my main working hours. Although I guess I check it on my phone when I'm traveling or driving/commuting, too. So maybe 4-5 more times ;) It's a lot, admittedly. But I feel strongly about answering emails personally so I have to check a lot to stay on top of things and not fall behind.

hi- it's hard to know exactly what you'll want to do in college until you try a few things. i'd give yourself a year of college (take some art classes at your school, too) and see if you like it. you may find yourself enjoying it more than you think. i was an art major at a non-art school and it didn't turn out so bad at all. that said, if you hate it you can always try to transfer in. just keep making art so you have a portfolio to submit. you can even look into local art classes in your college town. stay active in the art community and you'll be able to get some good advice locally about what schools to attend if you do decide to switch. best of luck :)

i basically book something on the other end of the flight that i'm too excited to miss, and focus on that. lunch with an old friend, a visit to a great shopping spot- i just try to focus on doing that thing when i get in and visualizing getting off the plane like it's no big deal.
