The best thing to do will be to contact the university. The students' union doesn't have that information. You can call the university General Enquiries: +44 (0)116 255 1551 Study Enquiries: 08459 45 46 47
Hope that helps -
That should be fine. Ideally, it's always best to be ahead of the game. Try contacting the University and just check.
-
We have no idea where these rumours started.
-
Any Students' Union is a cracking one in our eyes. All Sabb teams are brilliant!
-
Charles Frears is on the other side of town, about 15 mins drive, 30mins walk. The Hospital Hopper is still free to students.
-
Have a look on our Facebook fan page "de montfort students union" or our twitter feed @demontfortsu We put up some info on that a few days ago. You may need to do some scrolling.
-
There's no such thing as someone without friends. We recommend joining a sports team or society, something where you can find other people who have similar interests. It's the easiest, and most fun way to make friends.
-
Moving in day is when you move in. It'll be a Saturday or Sunday. Afterwards you're free to do whatever you like. Most people come to the union. The first Monday will involve you going to lectures which will be timetabled JUST for that week. They'll be introductions to your course, people you'll meet and the services you'll use.
-
The 25th is the Saturday which is the first of the two big moving in days which is why there's an event on that night. You don't need to worry about registering until the 27th.
-
There are loads of different things. There's the Sports Teams, Societies. Demon Media, Volunteering......but by far, the best thing is that it represents your views about your education to the people who are in charge of it, plus it's democratic so it's always your voice.
-
We wouldn't know. It varies from course to course and is organised by the University. The Students' Union doesn't really have input in to exam timetabling. The majority of exams are usually after Easter.
-
Nothing to worry about at all. Check our fanpage on Facebook or twitter feed. We put some info up yesterday.
-
All the major religions have a society. If there isn't one that caters for what you're interested in, you can always set one up yourself.
-
There's a lot of student accommodation really close to campus. Most people tend to share houses in their second year with friends. DSU Lettings is our own lettings agency who check the safety of each property they let and don't charge agency fees. It may be something to look in to at a later date.
-
Joining a sport, society or a media group allows you to make friends outside of your course. You meet more people who may have a totally different background to you. Sign up to something at Freshers!
-
You'll have introductory lectures all week and talks from different student support services including the Students' Union. A timetable should come through soon with more information. If it doesn't, get in touch with us and we'll see what we can do.
-
Our advice is to pick the events you want to go to, see if they're paid events and then decide whether the weistband will be worth it. We're biased but you should go to as much as you can.
-
There's no need to panic at all. You'll make loads of friends on your course. Coming along to the Freshers events may actually help solidify some of those friendships. It's entirely up to you but the best thing is to throw yourself in to it. Plus the Exec are around to hang out with.
-
it's dependent on which course you want to do, take a look at the prospectus. We think it will be on www.dmu.ac.uk
