My book tour for Anthropologie and Chronicle Books - had a blast traveling around meeting so many decor8 readers and friends, it was amazing. I feel enormously loved and blessed and happy.

I was approached and the project felt like a good fit for me. I'm not sure how you go about it without an 'inside connection' though I imagine it's just like pitching story ideas to magazines and newspapers (something I've done a lot of), you approach publishers you'd like to work with and write a compelling pitch.

I think neutrals, stripes and geometric shapes are classics because they're understated but excellent foundation pieces. When things are trendy or incorporate colors that aren't more "of the moment", they will definitely fade in and out of style and not achieve "timeless" status. I think design that is well made, functional and understated is more likely to become timeless over something that is not made well, is flashy and has a certain look to it that relates directly to a specific time period.

Yes! So much! I love how eco-conscious people are with all of the recycling -- it's wonderful. I also love the year round farmers' markets, the biking culture, the flea markets and how affordable they are, the music and films being produced here (a tiny amount compared to the US but some of them are amazing), the undiscovered talent that doesn't yet live online that I find in random nooks and alleys, the quality of life (healthcare and food come to mind right away), and that I can access so many other cities and countries by high speed train -- it's a great country to live in and I'm so happy here.

To see some of the giant egos out there replaced by peaceful hearts so that their insecurities vanish and they are happy to just "be" without running to prove who they are. To open doors for others whom I love and have them not forget me once they pass through but to love me all the more. To give more of myself each day to my husband, my family, my friends and strangers to contribute to making those I touch feel that I've been present in their life and that I made a bit of a difference being there.

When my former boyfriend of 7 years asked me to marry him and I told him that I needed to think about it... and then a few days later I asked him out to dinner to accept his proposal and he held my hand, looked into my eyes and said that the offer was no longer valid. I don't think I'll ever forget that painful moment. That was such a hard night for me, but then I realized after I met another man who later became my husband, that it all happened for a reason and that you have to trust your first impressions -- if your gut says no then it may be the best answer. It really revealed that the first guy wasn't for me if he let his pride come before his love and our relationship.

The call to prayer 5x a day was such an experience for me, it was exciting, emotional, I felt all mixed up inside whenever I heard it. I often would stop and just take it all in. Intoxicating.

I'm saving the celebration for when I actually hold it in my hands, it's still a bit surreal to me so until I see it, flip through the pages, I can't get "into" the idea of having a book with my name on it. So I'm waiting for that day for it to arrive in my mailbox and then I will do a happy dance and celebrate for sure. :) I may buy myself something very nice, I have a light in mind from Moooi. :)

1. Be authentic, don't be someone you are not. 2. Stick to your aesthetic - don't blog about things that don't interest you because you want to fit in. 3. Be consistent

It takes A LOT to get me angry but when I am upset I have no problem telling a person where the door is. :)

I am inspired by my life and so I blog about what's in my head, on my radar, and I'm inspired by my friends and what they are doing so that is part of it too. :)
