I think it was an accumulation of events that led up to it. I forget the final event that sparked the question, but the images I used came from two sources. Burning up upon re-entry comes from the ballad of Major Tom in Peter Schilling's "Major Tom." Listen to it and you'll hear what I'm talking about.
The other image comes from the movie "Red Planet" where one of the characters accidentally gets flung away from the spacecraft. His wife is on board the spaceship. To prevent her from going after him, he says his farewell, and opens his helmet for an instantaneous death.
As for the actual question itself, I'm not sure what caused it. I believe it was a conversation with a friend that brought up the idea of space death. I think I asked that friend and then immediately jumped on formspring to ask everyone.
Thanks for answering, TRE! =) -

Based on the previous answer, I'm still saying it's Leona =P
-
I'm going to use what I know of romance languages to decipher this one without using Babelfish. The answer is oui, Leona =P
-
Ok Leona, way to be anonymous.
Sorry, but I'd say Japan. Very clean, nice people. Love the language and the culture. Sure they invaded the PI and kinda ruthlessly tortured our people, but that's not the Japan of today. Plus I could get much better at Judo =)
