I don't understand this either. I don't understand how things fell apart. I don't know how I came to be the hollow husk of a man shell I am now but I'm trying to make the best of it. What's Hell like?
There is no God. There is no Devil. But as sure as I am that I am that this cock sized line of Vicodin isn't going to snort itself I am sure that there is, in fact, a Hell.
It's not a place you go in the afterlife, but IS a place you go when you die. Your heart doesn't have to stop beating for you to be dead.
You can walk and talk and smile and nod and walk your dog and chit-chat with your mail man.That doesn't mean you're not dead. That doesn't meant that on the inside you're not as lifeless and full of rot as any other body decomposing in an airtight box under manicured earth.
Hell is walking through life with 20/20 vision but the only thing youre able to see with any focus is your failures.
Hell is looking into the mirror and being surprised by the man staring back at you, not because you're shocked at how pale and weathered your face has become, but at how far it has to go to catch up with the your shit barnacled, idiot heart.
Hell is your regret. Hell is your shame. Hell is what you've earned with your life wasted and Hell is what you deserve.

Look. Some people relax with a warm bath and a good book and SOME people crush an Ambien with the back of their pay-as-you-go cell phone and mix it in to a plastic tumbler full of Buffalo Trace and drink it in their car listening to "The Wreck Of The Edmond Fitzgerald" by Gordon Lightfoot.
People unwind in different ways, David. I work very hard to provide for you and your mother and I will not be judged.
