You can apply for internships with networks (like NBC) by searching for internships on their website. I'm guessing the same goes for other networks too.
Usually shows are good about getting back to people when they're looking for interns. I would say it helps to have a resume of any work you've done and be willing to just jump in and do whatever. Most internships (at least in the states) aren't paid, but the experience is invaluable and the main thing is, you meet people. And relationships are what really matter in the creative businesses. That way you make connections with people and get to work with people and they get to work with you. -
