How do you feel about holistic medicine when used along with standard treatments? Do you feel as though, in addition it is a waste of time & $, or do you feel 'it can't hurt'. Or do you feel as though, whatever a person believes is most likely to work.
This question assumes a false dichotomy. The term "holistic medicine" is constantly mis-applied. "Holistic" just means "emphasizing the organic or functional relation between parts and the whole" - I would hope that even "standard treatments" recognize the value of a holistic approach when appropriate to the condition being treated.
A lot of solid medicine is looked down upon due to misunderstandings, bad translation, and a different outlook on what qualifies as evidence. Western medicine has focused on the whole "double-blind" test as the gold standard for evidence, ignoring the fact that many of its most powerful tools (aspirin being just one example) come from empirical evidence; a standard valued in Eastern medicine for its efficacy.
