'Where the Wild Roses Grow' is actually the first to spring to mind. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds' Murder Ballads album is one of the albums I actually grew up with. In listening to it closely, I've come to fall in love with the album. Where the Wild Roses Grow is one song that just stays in my mind pretty much all the time.
A close second would probably be Hallelujah, by Jeff Buckley. It is probably the only cover that I will always prefer to the original. But seeing as how Leonard Cohen himself admitted that the song was better suited for Buckley, I think I'm allowed. :D
I think my choices might be a little odd, as they do stray a bit from my current preferred genres. Nostalgia might be a driving factor, but it doesn't change the fact that these songs are brilliant.
Though to be fair, in the 90s I likely would have given a different answer. I'd be stuck between Aqua, Steps and the Spice Girls, most likely. :'D -
So far I'd have to say London! The people you travel with can make or break an experience, but even with the most annoying of companions, London has always managed to keep me sane during my visits. Every time I go back, I find new things, meet new people, and have great experiences. It's just filled with great memories for me, and I hope I can go back soon! ♥
Of course, there are many places I would still like to visit, and one day one of those might take London's place as my favourite! -
