   When out in urban landscapes I find myself more turned on when there is a bit of dirt around, when it´s all too clean I can´t get a handle on it - how dou you feel? Do you tend towards certain environments?

   I know what you mean. In Manchester, I usually stay away from the 'cleaner' areas because they're full of crappy, glossy architecture and suits. Everything tends to look the same. My ideal place to photograph would be a gritty city full of rain and sleet and Neon.

   I mainly take landscape & urban photos but have a people project in mind but is unsure how to approach strangers on the street, any tips?

   as a manual photographer it is vital to know your equipment well. learn to guess exposures, focus in distances. this will make everything much quicker. i think the biggest hurdle is psychological. if you are comfortable with what you are doing and the fact that you are not hurting anybody, then it will show. have a relaxed aura and nobody will bother you.
