I actually JUST studied 1 Timothy 2:11-16 the other day! I'm doing a spiritual warfare study by Kay Arthur and she mentioned this passage, to illustrate that Adam was rebellious, not deceived like Eve. I had just been discussing female pastors with a friend of mine the other day so I was doubly interested in studying this for myself. I learned a LOT (as usual!). I never knew there was such division over this topic!! There are egaltarians or something like that and complementarians or something like THAT. One side believes women can preach and that Paul was speaking to a specific situation at the time and the other side believes that Paul *may* have been speaking to a specific situation, but that it appears contextually that he was setting up the structure he wanted his planted churches to follow.

In my own personal study of the Bible, I believe it is quite clear that man and woman are equal, but the woman is protected and watched over by the man. This calls for the woman to trust the man and to raise objections to his leading with gentleness and grace. This is what the Bible calls "submission", a term that has gross negative connotations in today's day and age and that the devil has most definitely taken hold of to fuel his false doctrine regarding woman's relationship to men. The Bible clearly illustrates that women are in submission to men the way that Christ was in submission to God while He was on earth; His relationship to God on earth was the perfect picture of how men and women should relate to each other. God and Jesus had one purpose and one end: to save the world. A husband and wife should have one purpose and one end: to further Christ's kingdom. Jesus was equal to God but He submitted to the Father's will and spoke of doing so often. The wife is equal to the man, but she should submit to the husband's leading. I believe a woman has the God-given ability of intuition and therefore, the God-given responsibility to share wisdom and discernment with her husband on any matter, whether they disagree or not. I also believe that men who "rule" over their wives (i. e. "you have to do what I say because I'm the man") are sinning. Scripture is clear that the man should love his wife the way Christ loves the church and gave His life for it. Does Christ dominate the church? Absolutely not. And yet the church submits to Christ. So domination and submission are not mutually inclusive. You can absolutely have one without the other and God INTENDS it that way.

The scriptures show clearly that man is the head of the woman, Christ is the head of man, and God is the head over all.

I do believe that it is not right for a woman to be the spiritual leader of a group of men or a group of people that includes men, based on everything I've studied so far.

I also believe that Christians who disagree with this stance are my brothers and sisters in Christ and I will treat them with love and kindness as Ephesians 4 teaches. :)

I prefer Sims 3 because I love the seamless gameplay. It's playing a whole "living world" instead of just one house. With Sims 2, a common problem was playing one family-- the rest of the world would stay the same age, same status. So eventually, you'd have elder grandchildren who's grandparents were still adults! Sims 2 had better expansions, in my opinion, but Sims 3 has better features all around. If your system can handle Sims 3, I highly recommend it over Sims 2. But if you've never played either, you'll still have a blast playing Sims 2. ;)

Oh my, I've read SO many lovely things already this year (I read a LOT!!!) but just today, I read Zephaniah 3:17 in a friend-of-a-friend's blog and it is definitely one of the loveliest things I've read this year.

"For the Lord your God is living among you.
            He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”

i can only pick one? :(

      ;)

i would change my pride. i hate my pride. i would trade it in for permanent humility, and other-centeredness.

but of course, God deliberately does not allow it to be that easy. *sigh*
