What a question. I'm not sure I can answer that for myself, but I am not so sure if our ideas of what consciousness is are inclusive enough. I mean, we understand consciousness in largely intellectual and cognitive terms. But I think all living things, no matter how simple, have consciousness, but it just is probably manifest differently. I think consciousness is ultimately linked with the force of life. We just think about being, while trees, presumably, just are. But I think both of those can be conscious things. Okay, hahah, that's enough.
