I haven't, purely because I just haven't had the right window of time to do so. I'm sure I'd love them, though.

MLB: Houston Astros. NFL: Houston Oilers (since they moved, I don't really have a team -- sort of the Titans, sort of the Colts). NBA: Don't care anymore. Was the Rockets in the Olajuwan days. NCAA sports: Tennessee (my alma mater).

(I lived in Houston till I was 12, then moved to Memphis, if that helps clear anything up there.)

I really haven't played PC games with any semblance of regularity since the '90s. With that in mind, I'll go with these: X-Wing (which I played without a sound card), The Secret of Monkey Island, Fantasy General, You Don't Know Jack Vol. 3, Diablo

Definitively naming one game on each system is impossible, but I'll just say the first thing that comes to mind (and will no doubt be kicking myself later when I think of something I enjoyed more):

Intellivision: BurgerTime, followed closely by AD&D

Atari: didn't have one, but I'll say The Empire Strikes Back

NES: tie between Final Fantasy, Super Mario Bros. 3 and Castlevania III

      SNES: Final Fantasy III

      Genesis: Comix Zone

      Sega CD: Dark Wizard

      Sega 32X: Star Wars Arcade

      PlayStation: Spider-Man (really!)

      N64: didn't have one, but I'll say Mario 64

Dreamcast: didn't have one, but I'll say Code: Veronica

PS2: I think I'll have to go with Devil May Cry (so many great games!)... God of War, Dragon Quest VIII, and the whole PS2 Dynasty Warriors series also way up there

Xbox: Didn't play Xbox until very late in the cycle because I was so PS2-focused on my magazine and just didn't have time for it. Of the games I actually played on Xbox, though...probably Star Wars Battlefront II

Xbox 360: Oblivion, followed closely by BioShock and Pac-Man Championship Edition

PS3: Heavy Rain just barely edges out Valkyria Chronicles

Wii: New Super Mario Bros. Wii just barely edges out Mario Galaxy 2

Yep, sure did. Even got a personal performance of "End of the World as We Know It" out of it. Basically, I did a story on Karaoke Revolution where I tried to get the bands whose songs were in the game to play and see how they did. It was for OPM, but it was soon placed onto 1UP.com as one of its first ever feature stories (now without art, apparently): http://www.1up.com/features/battle-bands (I also did a blog entry reminiscing about it after Guitar Hero came out: http://www.1up.com/do/blogEntry?bId=6069793&publicUserId=5380067)

In person, I could tell that Stipe didn't really want to be there (and he hated that we were photographing him playing the game), but he was a good sport, if totally emotionless and stoic the whole time. I just thought it was consistent with his personality.

My favorite part was when I demo'ed the game for him to show him how to play, prefacing it by saying, "Just to warn you, I'm not a very good singer." Then, after that, he looked at me totally deadpan and said, "You're right. You're not a very good singer." One of the coolest moments of my life (while also possibly being the most in-my-face insult).

I don't so much miss it as I have very fond memories. Oddly, one of the things I didn't like most -- staying till midnight or later every day for at least a week for most issues, during deadlines -- is also one of the things I miss most, as there was tons of camaraderie associated with each. (Though I think the thing I disliked most was the pay -- it's definitely a "doing it for the love of the job" kind thing.)

These days, I get the magazine-style writing I love out of my system by blogging about the game I'm working on via Marvel.com, PlayStation Blog, IGN, or anywhere else that welcomes me. I don't get paid for it -- but like I said, it was never about the money for me.

As for "what really happened," it's no secret I was laid off with several other talented people at Ziff Davis publications. I wrote about it here back then: http://www.1up.com/do/blogEntry?bId=1451462&publicUserId=5380067

And as it turns out, it was just what I needed to set the stage for where I am today....

Boring answer, but I've gotta go Batman. I think my favorite not-so-predictable answer would be Firestorm, for no other reason than I thought he was a cool addition to Super Friends when I was a little kid.

Whoa -- never thought about that. Great question! Off the top of my head, I think I'd have to say Gambit. His bo staff would vary things up a bit for the melee, and he'd of course have his kinetically charged cards for mutant-power attacks.

Oh, Psylocke would be good too! Psionic knives and/or her swords for standard melee, and a big psionic blast for her mutant-power attack.

Odds of any expansion happening with that game are pretty low, though. We can always fantasize, though, right?

    18. Chris Baker

Phoenix. She's one of my favorite characters, and she's been gone for closing in on a decade now. I thought about saying Nightcrawler or Cable, but that would be too soon to actually have their deaths have meant anything.

I just hit level 30 in DC Universe Online, and I think I've about had my fill. Next up will most likely be LittleBigPlanet 2. In the meantime, I keep going back to Marvel Pinball every so often, with the occasional game of Pac-Man Championship Edition DX.

To be honest, I totally forgot I signed up for this thing until my spam from last night. Somehow I got by. :-)
