I know this answer is long overdue, but I have been thinking about it for just as long!
Before I go off assuming what the top 3 priorities for District 8 are, I would collaborate with my fellow District 8 representatives and work with them and other community leaders and organizations on this important endeavor. The reality of it is, you have to have a game plan, community wide support, and your ducks in a row before submitting a bill. I would hope that these priorities would deal with education and energy.
Thank you for asking! Sorry it took me so long to answer! -
One of them is definitely not enough time in a day to get to all the things that need to be done! More seriously, I think it is breaking people's stereotypes of who I am because I am running as a Democrat. I consider myself pretty darned independent because of my experience on independent boards and commissions (10 1/2 years on the Richland City Council - 4 1/2 years on the Washington State Transportation Commission), and have a good track record of getting things done for my community. That is what I believe people should judge me on, not my political affiliation, but my track record.
Thank you for asking. -
If the Republicans would actually allow me to caucus with them, of course I would. I have a long history of working closely with Rep. Larry Haler when I was on the Richland City Council, and last year testified on behalf a rail grant bill that he sponsored. In fact, I lobbied Sen. Haugen personally to ensure it made it through Senate, which it did and became law. Thank you for your query!
