I got through it great! I have a ton of resolutions -- but the most important ones are to become fit/healthy & remain honest, with myself and others.

I can type pretty fast. Not sure exactly how fast but when I get going it is impressive to people who are watching me! That's all I can tell you. I haven't taken a typing test in years.

And isn't there software that allows you to dictate to the computer? Its called Dragon Naturally Speaking I think.

Oooh. That is a tough one. There are a lot of bands I've photographed in the last 14 months, but to me, what differentiates some bands from others in terms of being photogenic has to do with the natural chemistry & relationship I have with that band. Of course venue also has a HUGE effect -- but beyond that, I find that like with any kind of relationship, there are bands that I "click" with naturally, and others where it is more difficult to find the right angles, and to find my groove as a photographer.

That said, Scissors For Lefty is the band I felt this immediately with, from the very first time I saw them--and it just keeps getting better each time. We work very well together, and they are a very photogenic group of guys, because we are on a similar wavelength. Its very cool.

With other bands that I consider very photogenic it has been a little bit more of a process, but I have to say that the other band that sticks out is A B & The Sea -- they have a great stage presence and they look great up there together. Over time I have learned much more about how they behave on stage and what to look for, in order to capture what is great about them in their performances. They know how to work the camera, increasingly, as well. ;)

Because I feel like it? Not sure. I am sitting on the couch watching TV and it seemed like a good time. :)

    9. Amber

Because they are so ugly they cross the line back to cute somehow. I mean, seriously. Did you look at the picture? :)

Because my first Twitter account was permanently shut down due to my website (enigmatic.org) getting hacked last year. I fought HARD but Twitter refused to re-open my account, saying I was a spammer etc. It REALLY pissed me off, actually. But this was my way of keeping the username.

I love being asked this question!

Its a Star Trek reference (NERD ALERT).
      http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Cardassian_vole

Basically, my favorite humanoid race on Star Trek are the Cardassians, a reptilian warlike people (featured on Deep Space Nine primarily). The Cardassian vole is a rodent found on Cardassia Prime (their homeworld)--and at the beginning of DS9, the station is sort of infested with them, and they keep chewing through cords and stuff. They are REALLY ugly, and I love them ;)

No. Absolutely not. I thought I would go the academic route, get a PhD and become a historian. Or a journalist. I never thought I would have the struggles that I've had, that I would burn out after my BA and discover that I am a talented artist and choose to pursue that rather than graduate school. I also never thought I'd marry young, never thought I would have what it took to achieve whatever I wanted. I never thought I would be quite as weird as I am (I think I hoped I'd grow out of it! Heh) and most of all, I never could have predicted how difficult being an adult is, and the difficult choices I've made that have shaped who I am in so many ways. I never thought I'd still be an admin assistant at 28, either, but here I am. Its worth noting, though, that in so many ways--I still feel like I am a kid. I know nothing! In fact, one of my mottos is "I knew everything when I was 18, and every year since then I've realized I know less and less."

Deerhoof is one of those bands that I wish I were a fan of--but I just can't get into. I am not a fan of that style of female vocals at all--with so far, no exceptions.

I appreciate the impact that Deerhoof has had on indie rock, and the talent levels of those involved (and their SF roots!), but they are not my cup of tea.

I'm going to assume that you're talking about the Finnish metal band. I hadn't heard of them before but have been listening to their music on myspace for the last little bit--I also read up on Wikipedia.

I am not super into metal, but they have a combination of things I DO love -- which is metal + strings. I can imagine enjoying listening to this a lot more if I ever feel "on the brink" if you know what I mean.

One of my favorite local bands is one that combines violin, cello and metal drumming -- they are called Judgement Day and you should totally check them out. They don't use vocals but its essentially a similar idea.

On a slightly tangential note, i've always wondered about the Scandinavia / Metal connection. Is this like, a Viking thing?

Oh man, this is really not easy. One! That is hard!

It would be easy to say We Are Scientists. I love them SO much--and they mean so much to me, being my favorite band of all time, and all. But a close second for me would be Arctic Monkeys. I don't have the emotional connection to anyone in AM that I do with Keith & Chris, but (no offense to Keith and Chris) Alex Turner is BRILLIANT, and I know that whatever he and AM come up with in the future is likely going to be mind blowing and progressive in a way that WAS has, quite frankly, no desire to be. Would that make them a better choice? I really don't know. It's very hard to say.

In the end I probably would still say WAS because I cannot resist them, and my heart usually rules my head. <3

Thank you for this thought-provoking question! :D I love being forced to really think about stuff like this.

My favorite cookie is chocolate chip minus the chocolate! Yes I realize I am weird. Its SO good though.

And yeah let me ftp you some.

When I was in high school and learned about the Mayan calendar running out in 2012, the History Channel Crackpot Conspiracy Theorist being interviewed postulated that perhaps it was not meant to signify the end of the world, per se, but instead just the end of life as we know it. As in, something could change our existence so drastically that we would have to break it into two distinct parts. The Crackpot in question believed it might be the discovery of time travel, but since its 2010 and there is no sign of my jet pack, let alone my flying car and interplanetary space travel, I find it highly unlikely that he was right.

In spite of this, I've spent the last 10 years trying to come up with ways in which "life as we know it" could end in 2010. In the past two years, I've come up with one semi-serious guess, and one more flippant hypothesis. On the flippant side? I turn 30 in 2012--so for me, it WILL be the end of the world, right? ;) Just kidding. My serious idea? Well, I don't know...maybe Sarah Palin gets elected President of the United States?

    19. Amber

Exhausted--which is not good, considering the couple of weeks I have ahead of me right now! Really though, I'm fine, just having some trouble thinking. Cotton Candy Head :P

    20. Amber

I don't know yet. I *want* to believe in God, or some higher power, some destiny beyond this earthly existence--but I haven't yet found my own faith. I believe in SOMETHING--because it is very painful, not to mention sort of nonsensical to me, to think that there isn't. There is so much "coincidence" in the world, and I feel energy beyond that of Earthbound beings, every day. So there is more than meets the eye...at least ... I hope...
