I am one, but not by choice at the moment. Have run my own business on and off since late 90's. The biggest things that keep me from continuing as an independent are:
1) Lack of affordable health insurance
2) Lack of clients
3) (As I have learned) The fact that I am better at promoting other people's (companies) best practices and ideas than I am at seeing and promoting my own. -

If I have to choose one, I would rather be rich - I can make a difference in people's lives with money. You can't live on fame.

Read a book! (I would say go for a photo walk, but since I use a digital camera... that won't work)

His Majesty's Dragon, by Naomi Novik. Barnes and Noble was giving it away free to Nook owners. Now I am hooked and will have to find a way to get all of the other things she has written.
