This has always fascinated me as well but I just read up on the situation and found out that on Iron Chef America, the chefs find out the secret ingredient 15 mins before the battle. They also get a list of 3 possible secret ingredients the night before so they can prepare for whatever is coming up. So basically, they have ideas ahead of time and I am no longer as impressed. There is a lot of information on the internet that makes me a lot less impressed with Tv and sometimes I cry about it.

i am not aware of a usual cook. it sucks whenever there are not old men talking about last night at night moves there. "you're supposed to put the dollar in the panties not take them off"
